"Child Appropriate" is a social construct disconnected with reality
If you really think about the types of games we've accepted as "normal", you will realize that we've come to terms with dark subject matter in some cases (even here on Roblox).
And there are cases where relatively harmless content is considered 'inappropriate'. If 'bad words' are so dreadfully dangerous, then why don't we hear about the limitless damage they've done to society?
Here is the truth. "Child Appropriate" is about fear, not danger. In some situations this fear is legitimate. Other times it's fear of the unknown and misunderstood.
In the case of Roblox, yes there is motivation to protect kids but there is also motive to prevent bad press. Which one has a greater impact here? I'm not implying anything. Just think about it for yourself. |
