Almost everyone likes Chinese food. But what kind of food is Chinese food? There are actually various styles of Chinese cuisine that depend on the region of China where it originates. Cantonese style food is probably the most prominent and popular Chinese food in the US. For example, most American Chinatown food is Cantonese. Another popular style is Sichuan. This is the spiciest type of Chinese cuisine. An example of a famous spicy Sichuan style dishes is hotpot. Yet another style is Shaanxi, which is in Central and Western China. This includes many Muslim influenced dishes because of the many Muslims who traveled and lived there due to the spice trade. Finally, there is Beijing style cuisine. This style of Chinese food is popular with Koreans since the Chinese who settled in Korean came from the North. Signature Beijing style dishes include Peking duck and noodles with black bean better known as jjajangmyun in Korea.
