I'm referring to things like "You are now on the 'Red' team". Can these be disabled while keeping the chat intact? I'd rather the players of my game not be explicitly told their team has changed.

Can this be done in any way? I can't find anything about it on the wiki.

Anyone? I'm not asking for the script, just a referral to the wiki page that actually covers it (if there is one) or something similar because I can't find anything on it.

Not sure what you're referring to as I don't even use Roblox's default chat for anything; however, if it's a new built in function that can't be disabled you'll have to make a custom chat.

You won't *need* to make a custom chat. Just open a test in studio, copy Roblox's chat scripts over, and find the one that does this and get rid of or comment out the part that does this.

Though forking like that isn't always good because, like with a custom chat, you need to keep up with any rule changes for custom chats (filtering rules and whatnot). If it's not too big of a deal, I'd just leave it. But it's up to you really.

It's not new, it's been around for ages. Anyone who has used the default roblox chat will probably know what I'm referring to; it's the automatic message that tells you when you've changed team.

A while ago, people had to change to Roblox's new methods of filtering text (and even disabling chats for kids whose parents set their account to be unable to chat at all). So no, you're not always in the clear for using Roblox's functions since things can change. I doubt they will, but I wouldn't have seen the change coming a year before it did this time, so anything can happen.

If it could cause problem's with the game's longevity, I probably won't add it. Worst case scenario I might just change it all to bubble chat and see if that works. Either way, it's not a seriously important part of the game, just slightly less immersive this way.

So I'll probably leave it, unless anyone knows of a less problematic way of removing it? If not that's OK.

Isn't hard to make a small change just adding a function or something to correct for the update. You always have to go back and update something that they change in games anyways.

Not hard, but harder if you don't know your way around their scripts. I actually agree on the custom chat thing. I never saw the point in modifying Roblox's chat. Was just saying a custom chat isn't needed to achieve this.

Essentially, what I'm saying is if I would have to keep my chat code up-to-date with Roblox's ever changing regulations manually, it would be less of a problem in the long run to leave it the way it is.

Yea but then you can't add nice features and move the chat box to a better fitting location for the game. It isn't that hard to make a custom chat, they even have a guide on the wiki.

Another way you could do it is just remember where Roblox keeps the part where it sends the team change messages, and redo the process every week or so to keep up to date on Roblox's changes. I'm not actually familiar with how editing Roblox's chat works, so there might be better ways than I know.

I made a custom chat script and it still runs fine I haven't had to change anything besides when they released that new filter and it was very easy to implement it into my preexisting code.

Yeah, but this person seems to want to use Roblox's. So making a custom chat isn't a solution for them.

Except you're also supposed to hide the chat for players who aren't allowed to chat.

Well the filter won't allow chat to be passed though so it won't even show anything.

My chat system wont display chat that has been modified by the filter, only will output system messages for the game at that point.

Made it like that because I hated seeing all those hashtags so instead it rejected it and gave the client a msg back telling them the message has failed to be sent due to moderation.

It's better to just not show the chat if they can't chat (using the first function). If they can chat, it's better to just not show messages to them that are always going to be 100% filtered anyway, so the second one will decide if it should even bother sending the message to their chat.

Besides, I think we're supposed to do this despite it being filtered anyway.

The person who can't chat might as well not see the chat. It isn't hard to make it just not show for them at all.

As for two users who can't chat with each other specifically, that's what I said to do in my previous post.
