To settle any debate, the deprecated method should not be used over the supported one... however I doubt they'll ever be removed. I use them lowercase because it's what I've always done. The day they force me to use :Connect() over :connect() is the day I'll change my habit.

| The ':connect' and ':wait' functions aren't actually deprecated, you know. They are literally the exact same functions as their non-deprecated counterpart. |

Roblox wouldn't have made the change if they did nothing. An example would be that parenting from instancing is deprecated.
Don't do: Instance.new('Part', workspace')
Do: local brick = Instance.new('Part') --properties brick.Parent = workspace
The main reason for this is that it is quicker due to the server changing properties before it is parented to the workspace. |

it works before the character even exists. |

Well duh, it's still fast, however, when you have stress on a server it will slow down.

@Icy Yes, they are deprecated.
Deprecated doesn't necessarily mean that the features don't work, it just means that Roblox discourages their use for one reason or another, typically because they become outdated or replaced by better systems, but in this case they're just trying to establish PascalCase as the uniform case for roblox functions instead of camelCase, which, who really cares, but I digress
That's what the strikethrough means in this article wiki.roblox.com/index.php?title=RBXScriptSignal#Connect |

| Soybeen, learn what deprecated means... nobody said it didn't work. Clearly, you need to learn the definition. |
