For a little bit of a lengthier explanation, you can check out this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUWHobtuBG8

Basically though, this update is one of many that has tried to refresh ROBLOX's appearance. Game sites need to do this or else they dry out, just like Club Penguin, Webkinz, Toontown and the like. We can't fear or protest these types of changes because it keeps modernizing ROBLOX so that it never goes out of style. Think of it this way; if ROBLOX just stayed like it appeared in 2007, no one would find that appealing.

The anthro avatars themselves don't seem to be nearly complete yet. Trying to implement it right now seems out of the question when game developers haven't entirely adapted to R15 yet. The important thing is that this update stands in the way of the user-generated catalog, according to Sorcus during the RDC.

Would anthro avatars make it easier to design items for? Artists might make their items too big, and the larger bodies of the avatars might be beneficial. I think the main reason for these avatars is to make more customization options for developers, if they ever want to make custom avatars for their games. Human-like players in Phantom Forces, for example.

Now, this update isn't finalized, so hopefully it'll fix some of the weirdness of how the avatars look as a concept. I hope at the very least ROBLOX reconsiders adding those... distinctive parts to the female bodies, since it's way too obvious that they don't represent what most of ROBLOX's players look like. Opens up too many avenues for online daters, unfortunately.

I just hope users give anthro bodies a chance because once they're all dressed up in gear and hats, hopefully it'll be easier to deal with. Like we've seen with 2.0 bodies, and then with packages, and even with R15, the hate of changes seems to die down when the updates are actually released and people can try them out.

Leave your thoughts in the thread replies, I guess. Thanks for reading or watching.

I understand that concept but the change from r15 to r30 is too jarring and looks very awkward. I'm all for innovation but anthro just looks disgusting.

Hopefully they do listen to user feedback and keep trying to tweak the look of the bodies, but they're still going to go through with this update no matter what. They've got to so they can follow the "standard", the "feel" of the rest of the gaming industry.

This is my blind opinion (AKA throwing my hat into the ring), but here is my thoughts on all of this. I'd say that the character update sort of sounds iffy at in the beginning because if you think of it, the whole concept of having them differently function more advanced than the normal avatars could leave trouble for some developers, but be beneficial. Like your thoughts on it helping out on Phantom Forces, but could leave trouble for games such as Hole in the Wall, which included simple shapes for the character to just slide through. But, if you were to add the character into the mix, it might require long, hard days of updating of developers just working to function with the normal mechanic by shifting it for the new avatars. And the reason why I they would do the update would to be for people to express themselves even more, such as the new update with XBOX avatars. It could add brand new ways to show the world of what they are and could express more emotions than most packages could do. Such as example, ROBLOX could add items that could express them such as emotions that describe them, maybe showing their weakness such as a prosthetic which they could show it as a strength, or maybe it could even lead to even more advanced emotes which could get more points across because sometimes packages and body shapes could hinder or mess uo a certain emote due to how the original thing was tested as, but if the new avatar update were added in, it could add a easier animation testing because you would have a more general understanding of how it would function in a game (meaning they might, MIGHT find ways around usage by certain people) These are just my thoughts on the update.

Here's what I have to say about this:

This update is one of many that has tried and failed to refresh ROBLOX's appearance. Game sites don't need to do this out of the fear that they may 'dry out' like Club Penguin, Webkinz, Toontown and the like. We should fear and protest these types of changes because it keeps making ROBLOX worse so it becomes less and less recognizable. Think of it this way; if ROBLOX just stayed like it appeared in 2007, both old and new players would be happy.

The anthro avatars appear to be ready for use in games. Trying to implement it right now seems to be likely for ROBLOX as game developers are proven to be quick to adapt to new rigs. The main point in defense of anthro is that this update would make the user-generated catalog less confusing for new players, according to Sorcus during the RDC.

Would anthro avatars really make it easier to design items for? Definitely not. Artists might make their items incorrectly sized, and the two different sized bodies of the rigs might make that an even bigger obstacle. I think the real reason for these avatars is to satisfy Davids dream of creating a realistic FPS game. Human-like players in Phantom Forces, for example.

Now, this update isn't finalized, so hopefully ROBLOX wont get any ideas of how the avatars look as a concept. I hope at the very least ROBLOX reconsiders adding those... muscles to the male and female bodies, since it's way too obvious that they don't represent what most of ROBLOX's players look like. It also opens up a possible inclusion in Weight Lifting Simulator, unfortunately.

I just wish users would quit giving anthro bodies a chance because once they're all dressed up in gear and hats, they'll look even more horrifying than before. Unfortunately as we've seen with 2.0 bodies, and then with packages, and even with R15, the hate of changes seems to die down when the updates are actually released and people realize ROBLOX doesn't care what they have to say.

I obviously think it wont happen, in my opinion, since everybody "Hates" the design ROBLOX wouldn't put it, But he never said anything, Or probably just be a model.
