| So basically thanks to the new update pushing for Filtering Enabled games, I'm guessing Filtering Enabled just makes it so Localscripts break when they try to edit baseparts in the workspace, or am I missing something bigger here? Will my GUI's still work? |

any localscripts that aren't FE-friendly will break if your GUI's aren't local then your good
but the new update for FE games will only effect accounts under 13, so that basically means a better community for all non-FE games |

they won't break but the parts(or basically pretty much anything in the workspace) will change only for the localplayer if you change stuff on the workspace using a localscript

Lots of things can break, regular Scripts are included.

| So after doing a dry testing of my place with Experimental Mode off, one of my scripts (A superball script) failed to take aim and just shot straight at the floor. So I'm guessing its basically any event that calls upon a property of the server without a remote function that will cause it to break, essentially. |

| uh what filtering enabled has always been the same the server is the game a client is you (player) any changes made by the client ############## that change the server (like workspace) the server will not accept this change and only you will be able to see the changes you made |

It prevents the client from doing things to the server without your permission, and it prevents the server from doing a few select things like accessing PlayerGui and running in PlayerGui and running in Tools. Anyhow.

@Moribash You do realize that because of that not a single Experimental game will get to front page since nobody can even search for it right? You know how much that will desaturate the amount of games not already dominated by the front-page games we have right? |

| No. You are too specific OP. All there is to filtering is things that clients do are *filtered* so the server (other players) do not see it. So you have to actually network information. |

@codironblade So basically anytime I have a script in my game want to execute a function or change a property it has to be through a remote function, right? |

Only if the server need to know something. Look, if you are just learning the client-server model, nobody will suffer if kids can't play your game. :/

The point isn't that clients are prevented from changing things but that the changes do not show up anywhere else.
Like when you inspect element a web page, you don't change the actual page. |

| So how do I make changes to the server instead of the client through a script? |

By not using a local script. |

| Yeah but even in serverside scripts some functions wont work, Heck even a simple superball script doesnt aim properly in Filtering Enabled! |

FE doesn't change how anything but client replication works.

| Hey guys! I just realized! Good news! With filtering Enabled on, all your plug-ins are probably going to break if they made any scripts ingame! Hooray! No more cutscene creator! |
