Whenever someone is "hiring" scripters but isn't paying there is always a select few that volunteer. Have you noticed that they are usually low-posts, have little to none of a portfolio, and are not known on the scripters subforum. Being a scripter and being able to dabble in a few prints here and an in pairs loops over there does not make you a scripter.

| I'm kinda offended about it but I'm also not really gonna argue over it. Just because they have low forum post does mean SOMETIMES they don't really know how to script. They don't need to be confirmed as a scripter based on reputation in this forum. A person could be a expert scripter and studied lua for years and not really have any posts. I'm not saying I'm an expert scripter but there are times like that. People really just don't post depending on their situation. |

I am not saying everyone who fits the traits above are like this. I am saying the people like this usually fit those traits.

"have low forum post does mean SOMETIMES they don't really know how to script." Correctionn, just because they have a low forum post doesn't mean they don't know how to script even tho' most of the time it does. There are those occasions where they do know how to script. |

| Yeah, but the thing is that all these rich kiddies are willing to throw robux at anyone who can "script" for them |

Usually, the people that are on the better side of scripting flee from the thought of flee labor.

I'd say that OP is mostly correct in his assumption that the people who script for "free" don't really know too much about scripting.
Nobody who knows how to script would work without at least some game revenue %, and if the individual requesting "free scripters" isn't highly skilled or successful, the scripter would probably want guaranteed money seeing as the probability of getting revenue is extremely low. |

| I just don't even bother replying to most of these free-scripting calls. It's not worth my time. |

@mark Ya, I studied lua for such a long time and practiced it. I'm a decent to advanced script but I wouldn't consider myself no where near expert or master. When I finished studying lua I got to the forums.. So I had really low forum posts. |

I pretty much started on the forums years back before I took my huge break from Roblox, but I never responded to these free labor posts acting like I know what I am doing.

Not long, maybe a month or 2 of dedication could get you pretty far, but you would still need to learn for a while.

I started by trying to make a game and googling my problems, and if I could not find the answer I would ask the forums.

| Ya, I watched a few videos on how to script. Then I looked at free model scripts to try and reach the code on my own. After being able to read and understand the basics of the language. I edited the free model scripts, then I started to create my own scripts, and when I got stuck I'd go to the forums, and look at the wiki while I wait for replies. |

| see this is why i like working with friends that you know well in real life and online, since they dont demand any upfront profit and understand that everyone needs a fair amount of money. in my team right now, there's one builder and one scripter. the builder in my team is my twin brother, and im the scripter. what's also nice is that my brother and i havent paid a dime for anything, since we have a friend that we know well irl that is fine with advertising, paying for assets, gfx, and the group. we've decided on payment being ######### ## ################## is that if you have a group like mine, you dont really need to worry about hiring a builder/scripter that will either demand too much, or not know what they're doing and work for too little. |

| Ya but you could hire someone that is a lot better at scripting than your brother, pros and cons to what you are saying. |

i mean, the mans is pretty good at building and to get someone better than him that actually knows what they're doing would be an insanely high price, especially for making an entire functioning game. and as another plus, i dont have to negotiate payment at all since he's my brother and we both understand how the payment should work.
he also doubles as a UI designer, so if i were to lay him off to hire another builder, id also need a ui designer. its just a better solution to work with people you know in real life if you can, instead of hiring random people.
