(I warn you now, this thread has a bit more technical talk than the average suggestion. I ask that, if you don't understand what I'm suggesting, ask me or any other person who does understand instead of just not supporting it altogether.)

ROBLOX currently locks at 60 frames per second - even if your computer can handle far beyond that (which mine, and certainly other machines, can).

This means that, when you play games at 120-144 FPS (and beyond) most of the time and you go and play ROBLOX, the game (no matter what place it is) will look slow, choppy and unpleasant. The effect is almost nauseating.

I'd love to see an option in ROBLOX's settings that allows the user to change the FPS limit (similarly to other games), or just turn off the limit altogether.

Thanks.

Then what's the point in having it above 60 fps?

@newt

All games run at a certain number of frames per second - this number is usually dependent on how well your computer can run that game, but it can be affected by other things.

There's plenty of websites and videos on YouTube that show the difference between 30 and 60 FPS.

The difference can be pretty large, and it's very noticeable. It's even more noticeable when you compare 60 and 120/144 FPS.

ROBLOX, however, limits its frames per second at 60 - even if you had a supercomputer, ROBLOX wouldn't go past this limit.

This is no problem for the average user, but when you play games at higher framerates and get used to more than 60 FPS, ROBLOX ends up looking choppy and slow.

ROBLOX looks choppy at 60 FPS in comparison to games that run at 120 or 144 FPS (which is very quickly becoming standard in gaming).

Sure, if roblox adds in a feature where they can detect your monitor type. Since some people don't know the difference sometimes.
If your monitor is 60 hz it'll automatically lock at 60 fps because there's no point in going over that on that monitor.
If you have a 120 hz monitor, go for it.

@vis

Honestly, I'd be even happier to just see settings like the one I suggest to be under an 'Advanced' section, just to warn users that those particular settings aren't for the average user.

I'm not even sure if programs can detect the refresh rate on monitors - I've got a 144Hz monitor and I've never had a game set its FPS limit to 120/144 by itself.

Either way, though, I'd be pleased.

This would be a nice update that I'm sure would get a lot of support.

Excellent idea. Support.

He doesn't get how an FPS works, so he should leave.

And not first person shooter frames per second.

Your eye can only see 60fps, anything higher is the same, even if it was 57373352845 fps you wouldn't notice a difference because your eyes cannot handle it. If your playing a big, laggy game it may appear to be different but it isn't.

You see dependent on your monitors hz. People can see over 200 FPS, if the monitor supports it.

This would make speedhacking a thing again.

They made it 60 fps so that hackers couldn't alter themselves to more fps, allowing them to be faster.

The standard is 60 FPS, you don't need above 60 FPS, I have played games at around 100-120 FPS and I have felt literally no difference. Roblox is nowhere near choppy unless your computer is an absolute piece of crap.

@epic

ROBLOX has never run at more than 60 FPS, and FPS doesn't affect speedhacking at all.

@gingyr

That's probably because you have a 60Hz monitor - it doesn't show anything higher than 60.

Lots of people use 120Hz these days, and some (including me) use 144Hz - these show up to 120 and 144 FPS, respectively.

Verodoxys, even if I did have a monitor above a 60Hz refresh rate, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. If I can't tell the difference between 30 and 60 FPS Youtube videos, I find it hard to believe I can tell the difference between 60 and 120-144 FPS in a game. We don't need anymore than 60 FPS especially in a game such as Roblox.

Gingyr, now if you were a true gamer, you would understand why having a lot of FPS is important. I understand you don't know, but having a lot of FPS is a huge YES, to any true gamer.
