But the separatists in Ukraine now want to replace Ukraine in its entirety.
Shows how much they care about the will of the people they seem to keep going on about with stuff like Crimea.
This would be American revolutionaries deciding they want to take over the British empire and run it from America. |

| Imagine someone moving out of their parents house by kicking out their parents so it's technically not their house anymore. |

so basically then: "we want independence from ukraine!" now: "we want all of ukraine!" if that's the case, literally no one would allow that to happen except for maybe russia trying to help, and even then it wouldn't work

I mean this all kicked off because Russia lost their power over the government in Ukraine.
These people only got uppity about independence when they magically got a hold of loads of Miltary equipment.
I guarantee you if they end up taking Ukraine there will be a referendum to join Russia and by magic 105% will want to merge with Russia. |

Incase this all seems familiar to you.
It's not a new tactic and it's not exclusively Russian. (Obviously this type is exclusive to Russia but there's other variations)
It's called Russification, a good example is Belarus where a lot of Belarusian signs are being replaced with Russian one's.
Throughout the existence of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union they have basically sent in Russian speakers into areas of the country with different cultures to Russian basically to replace the local populations over time.
This has basically resulted in most Ex-Soviet states having a sizeable Russian minority inside them that are generally favourable to Russia than the acfually country they're in.
Again this isn't anything secret and it's not hugely different from colonisation. |
