what things (besides games) do you feel are missing in Linux? Things that actually can be done safely, reliably, and realistically??
I suppose I can rewrite Mir from the ground up, write a new windowing system, and port GTK+ and Qt to it, then create some applications to compete with GarageBand/Ableton Live and FinalCut/Sony Vegas for it.
(there's no need for a photoshop alternative because GNU Image Manipulation Program is already light years better than photoshop anyway. A Illustrator and paintNET alternative would be nice though, but that communist patent-hugging dude running paintNET closed sourced it, so a Mono port might not (read: will not) be possible for any reasonably new version.
i really don't give two damns as to why you closed the source, I immediately hate you now that you did.
[insert clip of the Grox here])
(if I feel particularly cheeky, I might just write a script to decompile paintNET, then recompile it for Linux with Mono and hope it works LOL, then just distribute the script so as to technically not be redistributing anything under some sort of communistright.)
so tell me what you want

let me tl;dr this since Big Brother doesn't like words. ___
I want to make Linux great on the desktop. What should I get ported to Linux, (open source projects with no Linux port please, like notepad++), create from scratch (kinda wanna make a replacement for Adobe Illustrator/Fireworks to be honest.), etc. etc.
If need be, I can just write a new thing to make the windows on the desktop work (this is what's called a "windowing system" by the way) because reasons.

"why bother with Linux when you could use windows"
This is what I want to flip around: "why bother with windows when you could use Linux"
Games are something I can't really just pump out tomorrow. I'd like to make something that deeply ties you to Linux in order to actually use.
