Mr. Bernard (for himself, Mr. Vinblob242, and Ms. Bonn######B##n######## introduced the following Act which was referred to the floor of the House of Representatives.

H.R. 507 AN ACT to ensure our judges are independent from all politics.
SECTION I. Short Title This Act may be cited as the Political Independence Act of 2017.
Section II. Independent Judiciary No judge who supports any political candidate for public office may preside over his/her legal matters in the court of law. If there is a presiding jury or a presiding panel of judges with this scenario, this Act shall not be effective during that time.
Section III. Contempt Citations. A judge who supports a candidate in any type of election in the United States shall not issue contempt citations to anyone in that specific election if they are supporting a specific candidate. They shall instead have another Federal Judge, or any employee of the Department of Justice review the courtroom and issue out contempt citations. This shall only be required if another candidate in the election is being accused of a crime & tried for it by the specific judge that supported a candidate.
Section IV. Effective This piece of legislation upon passage of law shall be effective immediately.
