Games like Club Galaxy feature extremely accurate sound frequency beats, where the lights change with the music and it's quite cool - I'm wondering if ANYBODY on these forums knows any 3rd party application that can return data that is able to be interpreted by Lua to analyse and perform actions. PlaybackLoudness is just how loud the sound is, not the frequency, using a 3rd party application like Audacity would be good, but I cannot find an option to export sound data as frequencies, if anybody could help that would be appreciated!

I think they use PlaybackLoudness, and only that. Maybe they don't but all my systems seem to work well just with that.

They use PlaybackLoudness, a bit of math with it and you're set. Look into Scripth's visualizer (or mine, which has a really simple, single math operation) and you should understand.

Ozzy, your math inside your visualizer is doing what I presume as setting the multiplier for bar height, etc. I'm trying to figure out the frequency so when, for a example a bass drum or a snare is hit, then it would trigger something.

| I've asked multiple who I suspect to be using something other than PlaybackLoudness, they never spill their secrets. :| |

Again, I doubt Club Galaxy finds the frequency either. It just does math based on the loudness property to simulate visualizing the frequency. When the loudness quickly goes high, you can expect it to be bass for example. Apply math and you got cool effects.

Do you think you could provide me with a basic math solution to this, I'm not very good at finding my own ways of doing things with math - seems a bit stupid but it's true! I only mean a small segment of code to simulate the visualization of the frequency.

if the loudness is more than 5 then maybe make the lighting go red and under five make it go blue

But that would just involve an if statement, Ozzy implied that you could use math to calculate it more accurately?

I'm not the right guy for that. I don't really know anything about sounds either.
I still suggest you to take a look into Scripth's visualizer (it's uncopylocked) and see if it's something you're looking for. From the scripts you can see what it' doing with PlaybackLoudness.

This is a nightmare, lol. I've contacted the owner of Club Galaxy prior to this as we used to be good friends back in the day of when the club first opened, yet he would never spill the secret as to how the lights were synced (before PlaybackLoudness was a thing) it was quite mesmerising, but now it's everywhere, and I really want to replicate it for my own use.. :l

Yeah I've also seen simple visualizers before PlaybackLoudness, they probably used some web API (or just manually wrote every node.. which seems unnecessary). I also tried looking for a web API for getting data from a sound before the property, without success (besides the MDN API, which was just too complicated).

Step 1: Learn about audio.
Step 2: Learn about Lua and the limitations on ROBLOX.
Step 3: It's playback loudness. |

You can have a website that when provided the mp3 file, analyzes and returns FFT Data.

Is there an algorithm to convert loudness into FFT or vice versa, because it would be extremely helpful in this situation, or even loudness to frequency?

Come on someone spill the beans. We can do this on literally any other useful platform, so why the hell can't we do it on roblox?
