| Swimming by far. If you've seen the workouts we do, it's more than any other sport at my school. |

in terms of athletic ability,
basketball > hockey > association football (soccer) > american football > baseball
swapping the two footballs could be a possibility |

| Just think about it, if any professional athlete would go into another sport, a basketball player who can jump and run like an olympiad while having the strength of a football player and close to the endurance of a soccer player/ boxer will dominate in any sport. Also don't forget they're very tall and lengthy which is adventageous in most sports |

Lol what do you mean by best?
Do you mean toughest and strongest? Wrestling is debatably the hardest sport and wrestlers put in a huge amount of work to fill in to their weight class, gain muscle etc

Running/Swimming. Both sprinting and long distances are equally as athletic in their own class.
Both extremely widely practiced sports through the planet, and caters to the most anaerobic (sprint/50M) to the most aerobic (marathon/10K) with the bulk of events in the in-between. |

| I mean runners can't really come into another sport and dominate. Yes they will easily out run everyone but no way are they as athletic as basketball or even football players |

but what defines an athlete?
motorskill sports (like basketbalL) is a weird to value for athletics because you have to have hand-eye coordination along with the ability to "be athletic". If you get what i'm saying.
Are we just valuing the person's ability to run/jump in that case? |

Yes if we account strength, flexibility, endurance, ability to jump and run, hand eye coordination That's the ultimate athlete and in that case NBA players are superior |

I would have said basketball, but when you are thinking of this you are thinking of the best athletes in the NBA (RW, Wall, LaVine, Vinsanity). But there are quite a players in the NBA that aren't really athletic who are still solid basketball players (Dirk, Zebo, Zaza) Hell even Steve (last name rhymes with Slovak) found himself playing in the NBA for 10 years because he was able to shoot threes.
I look at the top 500 runners or swimmers in the world and I could say that they are absolute world class athletes. I can't say the same with team sports. |
