Most people work hard. Working hard alone isn't itself something to be proud of. One can spend their lives digging holes with spoons or they can figure out how to be smart and realise what they can do to meet the demands of the market. Sure, not everyone has the same abilities, and you might be a great public school teacher. But there are many more people that can fill that role than there are professional top class sports players that people are willing to pay to see, stock brokers, etc.

Not to mention contrary to popular belief most of those who are wealthy aren't actually born into such wealth.

| I think you can be proud of something that doesn't yield rewarding results. |

@Jordan
Yes, of course you can. My point is directed to people who constantly complain about their standing in life, yet claim they are proud of the job that they do. If you are proud of it, fine, but don't expect government handouts from taxpayer money in terms of welfare to support you when the markets won't.

@Appie
No... That's missing the point. You can grow bananas and sell them, or you can buy bananas and make banana pudding or whatever for more profit per hour. This gives one the option to work less than the banana picker and make the same amount of money, or one can work the same hours as the banana picker and make a lot more. Working smart is the key.

If you put more work into it but it still wasn't better, no, you won't get a higher grade.
This is why your communist future will never exist, it's not how things work. Even if it would be ideal for hard work = higher pay, that doesn't mean it's how it'll work. |
