it is easy playing mugen once you know how to play fighting games like MK and Tekken.
basically press buttons and button combinations
but here's the problem with mugen mugen is like skyrim mod it until it breaks

isn't there a training mode on mugen? in tekken (specifically looking at steve because I'm a bad player) you just press button combos. looking at ps4 tekken 7 with default controller config, press square and back at the same time to go into flicker stance then in flicker stance either press forward + triangle to initiate a combo or press square square square triangle to initiate the hellfire move |

| there is a training mode in mugen also my controls are like this up = up down = down left = left right = right A = A B = S C = D X = # Y = E Z = R and finally start = return thats my input controls for my computer mugen I just wanna know how do I do those special modes |

I haven't played it in a long time, but you press certain button combinations to trigger a special or a super move.

if you really really really want to play tho, set up macros
like set up all your combos on macros as well as blocks so you can never lose and play the game with a maximum of 4 buttons |

using the base character Kung Fu Man as an example go into the character's folder (in this case, "kfm") in the Chars folder usually, the file you are looking for will be named "readme" or "movelist"
MUGEN uses a 6 button layout "x, y and z" refer to light, medium and heavy punch "a, b and c" refer to light, medium and heavy kick in the case of 4-, 3- or 2-button characters the layout might be different
MUGEN also makes use of eight directions U = up D = down F = forward (facing to the right, this is right) B = back (facing to the right, this is actually left) multiple directions are noted as something like DF (down + forward at the same time)
so if you go into kfm's readme, you'll see that Kung Fu Palm uses a "D, DF, F" motion this is known as a quarter circle forward, like a clock displaying the time 6:15 so press the down button (D) then hold it with the forward button(DF) then let go of the down button, leaving you holding the forward button (F) then pressing a punch should bring out the attack if you did it fast enough
Kung Fu Upper is different, as it uses the "dragon punch" motion "F, D, DF" so press forward, then press down, then hold both and press a punch
"quarter circle back" and "reverse dragon punch" use B instead of F so you do the motion away from your opponent (eg. D, DB, B, punch)
half circles, full circles, charge motions and sequence motions are a bit complicated ill leave them for later
...this took about 5 minutes to type >.>

whenever i download a new character i go on training mode with the readme open in the background to try all their moves and combos

Most MUGEN characters should control like other fighting games (primarily 2D ones like SF and KOF).
But nowadays people just make characters as blatantly cheap as possible, even going as far as making characters using outside programs to guarantee a win. |

Simply put, really overpowered and broken characters.
Some are as simple as no hurtboxes, OHKOs, infinite priority etc.
Others are more complex and are scripted to be able to guarantee wins against any ordinary character.

elecbyte themselves classified it as an engine, not a game
...hence people making their own mugen fullgames with consistent screenpacks, ui and characters
