=RFL= Opening Week is here! We have some great matchups this week! Several teams’ seasons will be determined by what happens this week, as teams want to start on the right track with a Win. But after this week, only 6 Teams will have winning records. Is yours going to be one of them? - Games start on Friday and continue through Sunday.
Phenoms vs. Kings - Phenoms win 48-8 WHY: The Mighty Phenoms look to start their season with a W and begin their title defense. Crownsville will not be able to stop the Phenoms passing game, and the Kings offence is unproven.
Gorillas vs. Muskets - Muskets win 37-6 WHY: R-Ton is in rebuild mode, and what better way to start a rebuild with a Win. This one will not be close Raiders vs. Cyclones - Raiders win ##### WHY: The Raiders has the tools to win the NoCo Red div. this year, and to start the season with a win over a divisional opponent would certainly say something. The Raider are the only real team that can give Jamestown a game (R-Ton is rebuilding, and Crownsville is on the hot seat)
Scorpions vs. Bears - Scorps win 32-14 WHY: Is it safe to say that the Scorps are the most interesting team in the =RFL=? They have gone to the Title game TWICE, but with a puny roster (they use a lot of fill-ins) and a revolving coaching carousel. If they weren’t playing the Bears it might be hard to pick them…
Blue Jays vs. Beasts - 23-15 WHY: They Jays were disappointing at the end of last season and are looking to make the playoffs this year again. The Beasts are rebuilding this year, so while it will be fun to watch their new talent, Barrington should beat them.
I saved the best game for last…
Monte Mammoths vs. Springfield Bengals - Bengals win 45-39 WHY: This will be THE series to watch in the =RFL= this year. Although the Bengals are favored to win, Monte has good odds to win as well. Forget any other series, this is the Duke-UNC of the =RFL=. The players of both teams dislike each other, they are both in the SoCon red division, and they both want to make Week 1 their statement win. The Bengals have great players, but Monte reloaded with a good draft and players.
With all of that being said, this game will come down to the 4th quarter. While Springfield has the edge (slightly), this game will really come down to whoever wants is more.
