So, I'd like to create a map GUI suck as the one from League of Legends for my own MOBA, and I'm thinking about a concept.
I would like to have 2 invisible border walls on the outside of each map that subdivide into many points at the starting of a match, and then use 2d magnitude on the X and Z axis to determine relative position, and finally use scale to implement them into a GUI.
However, this is my first concept, and I'm curious to see if anybody here has a more efficient method for going about this. Thanks in advance.

b2 Additional question: Would it be better to then do positional calculations server sided and send them to the players, or have each player's gui calculate locally?
