[X] Nay
First you say that special elections leave seats vacant for a long time, and then you make it where the Senate has special elections. Fill vacancies by caucus.

Nay.
First of all Tank's the same person who wanted to change the electoral system extremely much and I disagree with it. This is just one of the first steps they have in mind, ultimately leading to a system where a person may vote for several candidates or arrange them in some sort of order. That'd kill democracy instantly.
The most important reason behind this is that I feel like, from a Constitutional perspective, normal law can enforce special elections. As our Constitution states that there shall be special elections to fill House vacancies and no futher instructions then a normal law should force special elections to happen lets say if 4 or more seats become vacant within a Class.
As of the Senate, let POTUS appoint or open a debate on an amendment clearly targetting such appointments.
I urge everybody to Nay. Sorry Whazzi, I'm nobody's b#### and I certainly can't put my name on this. |

Wrong Bonnie, you did not understand the idea of the amendment. As of today, each vacancy in Congressional classes–whether it's in the House or Senate, these vacant seats stay empty until the next election cycle for that class is due. The Senate is "fortunate" for that the President can appoint people to fill the vacancies, but that is undemocratic. On the either side, the House of Representatives is very unfortunate, because they fit the given scenario.
This amendment to both the Senate and the House will allow the vacant seats to be added to upcoming, closer Senate or House elections, and be given to runners that almost made it in.
P.S.- The reason I did not suggest a special election is that I fear the FECC might slack on holding those elections and delay them.
Signed,
Whazzi Senator of Ohio

You clearly haven't read the Constitution then.
It says that there shall be special elections upon House vacancies. A simple law can enforce that and I will be very curious to see your vote once I present it.
As of the Senate, I already made my comment very clear above. Just as undemocratic as a state Governor fills the vacancies of the U.S. Senate through appointment? Darling, it's how the system was designed. You need to cut the BS. |

i for once agree with hhp
it's in the constitution that there shall be special elections for the house (like in real life,) though, it's not enforced.
the senate is fine, there CAN be special elections for the senate but usually the president just appoints one
i also don't get article 1 section 3 clause 1, it needs more clarification
anyways...
instead of making an amendment to add stuff that are already in the constitution or just plain stupidity, make laws making the fecc required to hold special elections for house, and for the senate special elections just add seats in the next senate election if any seats were appointed by the president like they do in real life (exception to this is if the next election is the same class as that seat is in)
