Solar and coal power are unsustainable We are running out of coal, and solar power will run out long before the earth does. How can we make a better future for our children |

this thread is on OT, rational discussions are incredibly rare here.
I'm out of my head, of my heart, and my mind. 'Cause you can run but you can't hide, I'm gonna make you mine.

| Finding an alternative to solar and coal power is important. Surely OT can be rational here. |

But eventually we'll run out of water. What else can we do? |

And that requires energy. We need to see the bigger picture.
Anyone else? |

I'm sorry but you keep listing finite resources. Eventually we'll run out of perpetual motion machines. |

Because we're eventually going to use it all up. Just like coal and fossil fuels. Really not that complicated. |

Okay I'll explain it in simple terms
1. An object takes energy 2. The object uses energy 3. The object needs new energy
The sun can't make infinite energy. So obviously we're going to run out. |

"pretty sure the sun won't run out of energy for like a billion years right"
That would have been the projection a thousand years ago, but human energy consumption needs have skyrocketed. |

"but the sun doesn't die for another few billion years"
Like I said, human energy needs have gone way up. We're using more solar power than our ancestors did, and our needs keep increasing with our population. |
