A vocal minority of you have expressed concerns with the new interface I have spent 5 fulltime weeks developing. I understand getting used to a new interface when you’ve been using the same one for up to 6 years can be frustrating. I’m here to tell you that I hear you, and will be working further on this interface to incorporate what I can of the better parts of the old interface and leave behind the worse. I will not be bringing back the old interface. Let me explain why I decided to change it:


It did not have a great style. The text didn’t always fit in it adequately. The fonts didn’t have cohesion. It did not scale well across all computer users. It was not compatible with tablets. Overlapping GUIs looked terrible. And it was getting old and difficult to maintain. None of these things could be fixed individually, that would have required frustrating patchwork that would not have been worth the effort in the long run. I never liked the interface, I just had to work with it because there wasn’t an alternative. My goal with the new interface was to wipe the slate clean and start with a solid foundation with which I can build a solid RTS experience not only on the computer, but on the tablet, phone, and console.


Take a hard look at what few things have changed and compare it to all the functionalities I have added. The core of the game is still the same, you can still access the buildings menu with one click, you still see what units you have selected, the radar is still there, etc. What was not there before were features like drag to select, taking skins off or putting individual ones on, missile destination target, attack range radius, health bars at a glance, hotkey modifications, squads, and more.


This interface is not done, but it was as done as I could get it with only myself and a handful of early testers’ thoughts. Tell me what you would like to see done with this interface that would make you happy. Notice I can and will be adding a lot of things to the settings menu. Such as toggling the character dots on the radar or making the interface smaller if you choose so.


I think you’ll find with a little patience and time you’ll appreciate this experience more.

I can make that a setting. It was made because sometimes you move away from the building you right clicked on and I wanted to show players the building they were about to create units on.

Issues:
1/3 times I get redirected into an empty server, 1/2 times the hotkeys revisions don't work. Everyone with internet speeds of <20 MBS wont load till 2min mark. Oh ya reminds me, wheres the round timer?
Lvl 10+ servers are as hard to get 6/6 people as lvl 0+ servers before the update (aka 5% chance)
Pros:
Eh I guess the skins are good and the skin box box is a good addition, the aesthetics are neat.

Btw the interface only matches with the futuristic skins, if anyone has ever played games where the devs favor people who spend money they know where this update is heading.

I dont handle server joining. If you joined an empty server, it doesnt have to do with the interface. I need video evidence of hotkey changes not working. You cant set it to existing hotkeys, it refuses. Round timer is coming. The influx of new people may have made it more difficult to fill level 10 rooms, this is inevitable every time I make a sizable update. You are sorely mistaken if you think I made this update for ###### ## part of the interface is blocked off to paying members. Everyone has the same chance of beating everyone else, paying or not.

I strongly believe that this will take what's best of the old interface, and make it new to the new interface.

1. Instead of pressing K, then exiting out, C should clear buildings, and units. Not just units.

2. The progress bar on building a unit should be the color that's building it.

3. Stat map should be put in the frame, along with the map timer.

I know and strongly believe that if this is added/fixed/tuned, A LOT of people will enjoy it.

You have three lists(squads) of selected units/buildings. The default number of the list is 1. When you hit 2 or 3, it toggles that list. You then have to fill it up by selecting units/buildings. Each list is independent of each other, so when hit clear on whatever list you are on, the others do not clear.

Ehh sounds confusing for new players. Maybe make it more simple:
1. Select Units
2. Press create squad
3. Choose a hotkey
4.Done

Can we just have an option on which GUI we would like personally I'm quite good at this game but still seems to have trouble navigating the store also throws me off since the previous version of the store was much easier select things you wanted to buy imo.

If thats not possible hopefully you can just do the upgraded version of the old interface with a much more polished and finer look incorporating some minor-ish details from the new one. Thanks for reading.

Then he would have to support both interfaces which would ruin the point of making the new one...

This new interface does look better, but on tablet, can you make it so that free moving is an option because thats the only thing i dont like about this update. Everything else is great! Keep up the good work

There's no room for character controls on a tablet. Not to mention it would be a pain to have to control a character around the map on top of everything else. I had no choice but to take it out.

The mini map, or whatever it is that's suppose to be in the lower left corner is extremely bugged out for players with slower internet. It shows just a blank gray screen with a red dot in the corner and a green dot in the center. The player lists are also bugged out. It doesn't stay updated to players coming and leaving, and doesn't show teams correctly. It would also help the confusion a lot if the teams colors were correctly represented in the chat. The new GUI is pretty nice and has a lot of potential. Please please please just do a hot fix and fix the bugs. I'm a programmer with C, C++, C#, Javascript, VB, and Lua if you need any help bug testing and editing. I also do animations.

Sounds like something else is going on. Nobody else is having any of those issues and you're having it simultaneously. Maybe a catastrophic error happened and the entire interface didnt load for you, but I know my gui does not have that many errors.

it's happened both times I tried playing, and it happened for everyone in that current game. The game was still playable. I could see the UIs for the buildings and stuff, it was just more like it was out of placement. Yeah it does sound like it didn't load properly, but that's an optimization thing it sounds like.

The real question is why the heck is the GUI for units and such on the right side instead of the left and the mini map is on the wrong side as well

lol there's no functional reason for it to be on one side or the other. It doesn't hinder or help the play style's of players. It's just an aesthetic choice to have it there.
