I am a decent scripter who is looking to join a great game dev team.
I can: Modify most existing scripts to suit the required needs Create a custom script I can change the transparency I can change the brick colour And more complex stuff (reply to this post to find out more about what I can do, please list your requirements)
Payment is preferred, though not required. (R$ only)
My requirements: The group must have at least one game in development, this game must look decent! The group must have at least two other developers, owner excluded. The group must be active (online frequently) The group must preferably have a few fans already (not required)
I am wiling to negotiate these requirements slightly. I am willing to learn more of roblox scripting is needed

I don't think chaning transparency and brickcolor means you are a "Decent" scripter.
maybe "newbie" fits that

If this helps, here is a list of almost everything I know (regarding scripting)
Basic stuff (transparency, etc) While loop repeat math.random values (numbers, true/false, etc) read the values, and make something occur if a certain number was chosen
that is about everything, maybe that will help you understand more of what I can/can't do.

Art. Your definition of "decent" is the same as our definition of "greenhorn".
For 99% of us on this forum, all that stuff above was something we learned on the first (few) day(s).
Let me throw out some of the things that "qualify" you as "decent".
(Not trying to be mean here)
- Proficient skill in GUIs - Proficient skill in debugging - Expert skill in Instances - Expert skill of values, loops, functions and determining correct script type - Expert skill of common services - Good to proficient skill with uncommon services - Good to Expert skills with the "math" functions - Good skill in string manipulation - Good to proficient skill in animations
And so on..
Again, not trying to mock you or anything of the sorts, just giving you a heads up. :)

Well, I can tell you right now.
If I were to look at my code from a year ago, I would vomit.
If I were to look at my code from 2 years ago, I would have an aneurysm.
If I were to look at my code today from 1 year in the future, I would probably rewrite it |

Art. I know you will still look at this response.
What you posted as your skills legitimately made you look like a newbie.
Next time, post your more advanced skills, not ones that are baseline (like all the ones you posted).
Things that could help you out:
- Post about string manipulation - Post about weapons - Post about data saving - Post about your accomplishments
For example, I'm the lead developer for Infinity Vortex. A group with 1700+ members and a game (raid place) close to being finished. I have expert skills in GUI manipulation, as well as raid handling (to say the least).
You're facing criticism not because we don't like you; we just don't agree with you and what you call "decent skills". Hope I don't come across as being mean, I'm just giving you advice. |
