Ask me. I always loved plants, so I took more time to study and appreciate them than the average person.

Do you by any chance know the name of the trees that grow these cornucopia-type shaped red flowers? It's like a horn or "carolina-reaper" pepper type shaped flower that is composed of many little red balls.

Tree is too broad a term. I need more info. Some helpful info would be the area its found in, and the type. Like, does it have needles or leaves? What does the fruit look like?

Yes, Venus fly traps do eat insects. They have a sweet liquid in them that attracts insect, and when they touch the fibers on the leaves, the leaves clamp shut. Quite interesting to watch. You can find vids on yt.

Oh, you asked why. While they can produce food the same way other plants do, they are unique in the fact that they can eat flies, and even have acid to digest the flies with. I guess its because their environment is very poor in nutrients, so this is a back up.

Sunflowers. They are VERY easy to grow. You can dig a hole anywhere in the sun and more than likely theyll grow there. Just make sure you water it every day. Crissy soil dries up quickly. Sunflowers can grow to ## ## tall in some cases, smell very nice, and attract birds and butterflies. It's always a good feeling to see them pop up and grow, knowing you accomplished something.
