| Because selling consoles and marketing them as the best thing ever is a great way to profit off of gullible/uninformed people. |

companies used to market PCs as better than consoles but that was in the early 1980s |

| How are consoles important? Also, that advertising, sorry to say it, is true depending on what you do. A lot of office work was replaced by computers and consoles back then such as ### ####### or what have it those years were seen as toys. |

"How are consoles important?"
a good way to get people into gaming
if there was only computers, there would be a lot less people in gaming (which means less money for the companies, and lower budget games) |

Well, consoles really started the whole "gaming" thing, and true, they may be the first gaming platform kids do find, but if there were only computers, there would probably still be the same amount of people, but just playing on the PC.
Now, if we want to sling facts at each other, PC gaming has been proven by many independent studies that it is collaterally cheaper than console gaming and that it is "visually more appealing". |

not entirely true, some people may find PC too complicated and their friends may be the kind of people who only play what their friends play |

| Well, PCs and education about them has really been streamlined, and there are many books, videos, and other sources you can go to to learn about them. True, maybe a controller is easier to use, but if you're that dedicated, I'm sure someone online has a way to make your PC controlled only by a controller. |

Well, consoles may seem cheaper, but if you took the time to count the costs, you would see what's up. I mean, there are countless (well, probably counted) cases of people making the "infamous/famous console killer" that costs usually less than/as much/slightly more than a console and is said to work better, and a lot of those cases usually are true. Not to mention the factor of other payments. Games usually have less discounts on consoles and the payment for online has been a heated topic. |

gaming elitism shouldn't exist and should never have existed
videogames are a source of casual entertainment; you shouldn't need the upmost specs to run most games at comfortable resolutions and framerates
consoles makes gaming comfortable and easier to get in to |

consoles still exist because of the parents. a parent will rather spend on a console than spend alot of money on a good pc |

No, I use DuckDuckGo and as a (hobbyist) game developer, I just absolutely refuse to support Microsoft Windows for my games because it's too damn hard to port from POSIX to Win32 quickly without a mess of #ifdefs and typedefs all over the place.
And Cygwin is NOT a solution.
But hey, I'm aiming to rectify this with my own Windows-like operating system that's not that Windows like (it's more architecturally similar to kFreeBSD, MS-DOS kernel and Linux), while still having "Wintelisms" so that Windows games can be ported fairly easily.
It fully utilizes x86 hardware, doing things with all 4 rings, actually using the 512-bit registers on the CPU, etc. etc.
It's fairly tied down to amd64 as a result, but it's utilizing the CPU to it's fullest.
So far it's just a bootloader and a hello world kernel with a very simple ext4 driver, but it's getting there.

"Linux* is the master race." this made me laugh too much
there is a market for anything even though a person may assume a console is "too childish," it seems that all the children in the world would get that console
also there is a trick i am doing with my ps4 i did with my ps3 i am just leaving it idle with gameshare on so my ps4 gets games for free sony didn't entirely patch it with the ps4 (you just ALWAYS need ps plus), but the end result is about 80 free games not including gameshared ones |
