I started by looking at free models and remaking them. The main problem is, the wiki doesn't give what you're always looking for, it gives you the tools to make it. It's like telling someone to take a hammer, wood, and nails to make a house, without giving them the main blueprints that help them.

Hmm, good point, let me rephrase. Free models IS like getting a picture of a house, but combine that with the knowledge you learned from the wiki is like getting fresh blueprints.

My overall point is that, use both. I used wiki when I was in need, or when I just needed to expand my knowledge. When I wanted to make something specific, I went to free models to search for it, look at how i'm supposed to do it, and then just do it.

if you use the tutorials on the wiki like free models in themselves you can more easily come to understand the techniques without risking picking up a free model made by a complete idiot but meh. The main thing you need is perseverance.
