performance is amazing, not a single thing has lagged or closed randomly on me yet: good example is how i left GTA san andreas open in the background overnight, and when i opened the app in the morning, it was exactly where i left it (RAM management is amazing, apps can be in RAM for 9 hours and not close)
battery life is amazing too, on light use im getting over 6 hours of screen on time from a single charge (compared to 3 hours of same light use on my old phone)
the UI is super smooth and fluid, animations and transitions are all just beautiful to look at, i would say this is the first android phone ever to be as smooth and fluid as an iphone
only negative side is what many people point out, the fingerprint scanner. especially on the plus model its way too high for a comfortable grip, and i have to reach far up to put my finger that height, from the grip that i normally hold my phone in
thankfully the iris scanner exists, and you can set it to activate without having to swipe the screen first if you force-touch the virtual home button, this way its super fast and efficient to use (power button to see lockscreen and notifications, but if you know you need to unlock and not view notifications, you can force-press the virtual home button in the bottom). the scan is sometimes so fast that it literally just flashes the scanning screen, normally it can take one second or less to scan

@destroy
exactly, iphones are amazing at keeping apps running, and being fluid and smooth
then there is the part where you are restricted to an app grid where you cant even add blank spots, and you cannot install anything outside the app store, or even view your file system
only at this point really an android device is capable of being as smooth and fluid as an iphone, its a milestone

I'm still using an LG from 2014, it's not the best but it's affordable.
I'll probably get an iPhone next, I'm not sure though because I hear they have a lot of issues. |

where apple beats problems by optimizing everything to perfection, android beats them with raw power
the s8 processor is like 2 generations ahead of the iphone 7 processor on paper, but in reality, its only now beating the iphone 7 in benchmarks with a slight margin (benchmarks)

"not everything, the fingerprint scanner sucks" fingerprint scanners are absolutely unnecessary because fingerprints are flawed
