Even Prison Life use free models. Examples: Trees & Cars
Even Redwood Prison use free models. Examples: Cars
Even Work at a Pizza Place use free models. Examples: Trees
Even the Tyccons use free models. Examples: Tycoon kits, trees, morphs, weapons.
Most of scripts that are in games may be free models. No one knows. |

Many kids make trash games (low-quality and inefficient scripts because of free models that were made very long ago) People play those games and start saying "free models are bad", which the creator and possibly others begin to repeat Eventually, those hundreds of thousands of creators of low-quality games believe that free models are bad, when actually it's just them
TL;DR - Kids think free models are bad, but it's really them not knowing how to script or build which causes others to think that way
A lot of free models are bad though, which doesn't help |

There's nothing wrong with using free models. I just don't think that games that use excessive amounts of free models should have a place on the front page as they're getting credited for somebody else's work.

Um, I think a good developer can transform the free models (the good ones not just the trashes) in a "art".
Anyways, I used some trees (from library) and I changed them a little bit and then some kids that played my game started to bully me saying " ahh free models. This guy even don't know how to make a game" , when they even can not do anything better.
My face represents me now. I don't know if I should continue to use models made by community (good models and scripts) then customize them or just to learn everything about development and starting to make any game from zero.
I don't make free models games. For example I use some trees or cars which will be customized or I just use some scripts like a custom leaderboard, or Name Tag above head..etc
What should I do ?

"70%"
There are almost 300 Million players on ROBLOX. That's 0.67%, you got your Maths wrong. Although popular, the fact remains that Kohl's admin isn't well written.

Why am I against free models? Most idiots think that just taking them means they can just claim ownership of them. And they dont even open them and see how they work, nor try to learn. |

Outside of Roblox, a lot of game developers use assets. In a way, they're pretty much like Roblox free models. Making assets is time-consuming, especially when you're a solo developer which a lot of developers on Roblox are.
The reason free models on Roblox get a bad rap is because they're naturally a lower quality. People don't upload their good, hard work for other people to use when they just need it for themselves. Because of this, most free models were built during older versions of Roblox where it was more acceptable to do.
One could argue that people who use free models are too lazy to do it on their own. This is absolutely true, but it's not bad. Solo developers are warned away from free models and thus they make everything on their own, from scratch. Developers can spend hours making something that's already available. No point reinventing the wheel.
In the best case scenario, a developer can use free models as a boost or power up as many other developers do outside of Roblox. The only time you don't see this is if the game is simple or if it's being worked on by a team of people.
In the worst case scenario, developers will only use free models for every aspect of their game. Guns, the map, the miscellaneous objects, etc.
tl;dr: use free models as a boost or power up |

"Outside of Roblox, a lot of game developers use assets"
And those assets normally have a price, legally enforcable license, or both. Roblox has no such things. |

| That's because they're getting compensation for their hard work. That's their incentive to release them and they have legal protection. On Roblox it's not as easy to do that. |

Who ever said they're bad to use? Some might be low-quality but that's the creator's decision. The toolbox is there for a reason.
It's a different story if somebody uses free models and takes credit for the work.

I better never see you make a game unless it's written in your own engine.

Um, this thread was like a bomb.
Lol,
Now after I did read all, I understand that the toolbox is for a reason. Also I know that not every model is good and the people who make games only with models made by community are lazy people, but that doesn't mean the toolbox shouldn't exist and nobody needs it. |

| A lot of new people make the mistake to thinking that free models are made by roblox, no, free models are made by roblox players for example. you can check free models if you're learning to script and see how they are made. |

Using free model scripts and models just show that you are unskilled and you wont even be
called a "developer" or "creator" by actual professional developers.
