I'd use part.Velocity directed by CFrame.lookVector and just have something that makes it look like it's moving. Else I guess you could have a part at the bottom that creates duplicates and slowly moves them up until they reach the top and they're destroyed.

An easy elevator will just teleport you and have a small delay as if your inside traveling.
A REAL elevator, if you want to make a glass elevator or something that looks over a landscape, can be extremely buggy unless you perfect the physics just right. In a large server the player may actually look like he is constantly falling through the elevator floor and then popping up.

That is the biggest no no in roblox physics.
Use bodymovers for smooth, but sometimes laggy, transitions. Part velocity is the bane of game speed and is extremely inefficient. |

urgh sorry that's like the fourth time that's caught me out. I'm English and we call it a Lift. I wasn't explaining an Elevator in my first reply. I was describing an Escalator

| I've used bodyPosition on an elevator. There is a tutorial on Roblox youTube for moving platforms, I've also used bodyForce to move an elevator up and down. |
