I won't be a full on atheist though. You never really know if god exists or not.

If I firmly believe god doesn't exist, then I'm just setting mys of up for rejecting the unknowable. If you don't know something, figure it out. Don't just reject all ideas.

That's true. But you can't reject the unknowable. Don't know what 50 digits of Pi is? You can't just reject its existence and try to prove it isn't real. It's unknowable without further studying, although Pi is a bad example as god hasn't been proved or disproved.

"God is fake: You only use him as a comfort mechanism, you're whole life has been a lie and you've been brainwashed by an ancient book written by desert people experimenting with mushrooms."
Sounds like "just sharing opinions" to me. Example of peaceful atheists: "Oh, I don't believe in God." An example of you atheists: "GOD IS FAKE THERE IS NO GOD" |

Are you saying there's a difference between "I believe in God" and "God is real"?

There's a clear difference between believing and reality. Believing is hoping or accepting something. Real is dead-smack in your face, showing you that your beliefs are justified and that all shall acknowledge it.

@Roblo How isn't there a difference in "God is real!" and "I believe in God." Either one will start some religious war

Not really. I can believe that I can be the next Albert Einstein, but that doesn't mean I WILL be the next Albert Einstein or that it is achievable.

No, I don't believe in god. Yet since he is unknown, you can't prove his existence, I'll gladly embrace religion once there's proof that he exists. Atheists just believe there is no higher power.

You CAN be half-half. You might disbelieve in god, but if there is proof, you would gladly embrace the truth.

Not exactly. It's almost when you find out santa is not real, it's hard to just revert your beliefs and say he is. If you are willing to convert so fast to a religion you are not atheist and are actually agnostic.
