| I think it's because, with the way roblox physics work and the engine, link happens to work really well. It's sort of tradition. And because of the way it works, there are multitudes of different styles to fight with it. Most modern animation swords do damage when you click, and the sword hits the player. With linked, however, damage comes from movement of the sword within the players hitbox. This means the fighting is based on footwork, and allows you to expand your skill set. |

Alright.
Everyone complains that swords have no innovation, but what should we innovate? Please, give me an idea that isn't magic or something like that.

| It's not just "super easy". It really depends on perspective. If you invest time in it you'll know what I'm talking about. Where the skill really comes from is the subtleties. That's what makes linked and that's why groups that use swords love using them. The problem is, ever since late 2014 after Roblox changed the swords, no one has agreed on a standard. For the longest time groups that have used swords have had a standard, and that was the original Roblox sword. But now everyone has their own version, which causes disagreements and fights during raids and wars. Auto Duels, for example, has the boost removed (which is really ridiculous since it has been a stable since '07, and wearing different hats allowed you play different styles), while others edited the hitbox and the literal weight of the sword. If Roblox fixes linked and makes a standard like before, sword clans will spike in activity, which in turn will introduce more people to the clan world and thus help groups. |

| So innovation is just reworking how linked swords are animated? Does that mean that all gun clans are not innovating unless they redo the carbine? |

| i know exactly how swords should be innovated it should be like in real video games like ### and Witcher 3. Need new swing animations (light vs heavy?), shields, blocking you can innovate if you want to though |

| Rescind, the problem is that the capabilities of the Roblox engine simply don't allow it. It would be too heavy. Roblox at its core has been designed to be simplistic. And a simplistic yet subtle fighting system fits it. I'm sure you CAN do it, but at the end of the day you've got consider whether everyone would find it fun or not. Innovation for the sake of innovation has no purpose. You've got to innovate when there is purpose and it would the overall experience better and more fun for everyone else. |

And shadow, if the linked sword really was "a sad excuse", then why do so many people still prefer it over other, more advanced combat systems? If one man preferred it, then your argument would be justified. But if a big crows does, then it's null.
I also know the fallacy of the majority. But as this is entertainment and not politics nor morality or justice, this fallacy doesn't apply to this particular context. Most people in clans that used linked have tried out more "advanced" animated swords, and just prefer this. |
