Madness! And yet, I've found a way to do it.
For the Skeptics: http://www.roblox.com/sphere-obj-item?id=88305407 http://www.roblox.com/torus-obj-item?id=88305710 http://www.roblox.com/suzanne-obj-item?id=88306157
And now that I'm done showing off, here's the real point of this thread. Would anyone here actually use it? It's a wavefront object importer for Roblox, albeit a buggy one, but it does work(mostly!).
As well, if there is any support for this sort of thing, discuss the following in this thread...
- The support for wavefront is still really generic and bad. It can only import faces expressed as triangles. Should I improve it?
- Should I add support for more common formats? Perhaps for Ogre or Blender meshes?
- How long do you think it'll take the devs to ban me? I'm sure there's a reason they didn't want to support custom meshes.
Comment and discuss below. If enough people want it, I'll tune up the program for an actual release. =) |

| Just add Wavefront OBJ support, most model editors can export to that type. |

Perhaps he did. TBH, I wasn't even here at the time he was made a moderator, so I wouldn't know about (m)any programs he wrote.
Either way, there seems to be some support, so I'll have a buggy release later today. Then, you can all go ahead and break Roblox trying to load your super hi-res models. |

I was under the impressions there was no way to upload user meshes.
Care to enlighten me? |

| You can upload meshes by putting the file directory into the location thing. :| |

| Also the user has to go into a solo game to download the meshes. I suggest making a place full of them that the player can go into solo mode Called "mesh download" |

| This has been done several times by many people. Most notably Stravant and Kalle2990 (as his converted google sketchup models).. but nice job anyway. |

Buggy version woot!

I'll probably include the source if I end up updating it. Any feedback is helpful, and before complaining that there isn't a pretty GUI... It's free, isn't it? |

@Thek00lkid Notice that it's a Wavefront->ROBLOX exporter. It makes a model out of a mesh. |
