Citing climate oscillation as a means to disprove human-influenced climate change is probably one of the funniest arguments I've ever heard. While it is true that climate oscillation (by climate oscillation, I mean cyclic climate change) has been occurring for most of Earth's lifespan, and carbon dioxide levels do tend to rise and fall as well, recent carbon dioxide levels have been way higher than usual.
There have been several global climate oscillations (and with those oscillations, spikes and valleys in CO2 levels) all throughout Earth's history, and scientists have been able to monitor those changes by looking at ancient ice cores. Within the past 400,000 years (excluding modern day) carbon dioxide levels have never risen above 300 parts per million. The highest point occurred between 300,000 and 350,000 years ago; not too long before humans began sprouting up in Africa. In the 1950's, the levels rose to a little under 320 ppm. The change was drastic compared to the fairly recent sub-180 ppm low point (this point occurred within the past 50,000 years). Between the 1950s and now, carbon dioxide levels have risen even further to a staggering 400 ppm.
Within that 400,000 year span, there have been several global CO2 oscillations. They've had high points and low points, and all of those fluctuations occurred naturally. No one is arguing the fact that climate change can happen (and has happened) purely independent of humans. Climate change works on a cycle, but humans have thrown that cycle off drastically. The spike between the dawn of the industrial revolution and 2017 is unlike any spike we've ever seen before. It's not hard to extrapolate outwards and see how dire our future is going to be if we stick to this trend. It's evident that humans are one of the main driving factors behind these massive CO2 spikes, and it's sad that people are still denying the clear evidence behind it.

Sure. :~) I've got a graph from NASA's climate program I could link you to on my Twitter too. A lot of my references come from NASA's climate website.
"Dapper, you should replace all of my teachers, you're smarter"
They've got yeeeeaaaarrrrrsss of experience on me, lol. One thing that I will say about most teachers is a lot of them make learning really monotonous, and it wears the learner down. If everyone had a teaching ethic like Sagan, the country would be way more educated.

| There is no question that global warming and climate change are real, the only way to pretend it isn’t is to ignore the evidence, misunderstand it, or to create an alternate reality. |

Or people try to make the evidence fit their presupposition that humans have nothing to do with it. Some people are perfectly willing to accept the fact that climate change is real, our presidential administration included, but many of them (also including our presidential administration) ignore the fact that we are currently looking at the highest CO2 levels we've seen within the past 400,000 years, and that climb "coincidentally" happened right around the time the industrial revolution started. The increase has been exponential since that point, and there are no signs of slowing. To accept cyclic global warming, but completely ignore the fact that we're currently WAY higher in atmospheric CO2 levels than any average high point within the past 400 millennia is just a monstrosity to science.

Outside of the short stories I wrote as a kid, not really. I've wanted to write stuff on climate change, but everyone and their grandmother has done a book on climate change. I'd like to write epidemiology-oriented stuff too, but we already have the Hot Zone and Level 4, so it's hard to be original there too.

Dapper, good luck educating OT about how climate change is caused by humans.
Most of them are just edgy right-wingers who deny science. |

I have expeditious skimmed through this remarkable paragraph on climate change, and I can extrapolate that I concur with this being veracious in regards for your assertion and to be envious and flatter your stupendous caliber for being perspicacious on this controversial topic.
merits to be perceived! |

Thank you. :~)
"Most of them are just edgy right-wingers who deny science."
I think the fact that most of them are right wing isn't the major problem (plenty of right-wing politicians have actually been standing up for manmade climate change lately), it's just that some of them are hesitant to accept science in general. Why they deny science, I have absolutely no clue, but I don't really think science is a partisan way of thinking. Even a lot of democrats have been adopting anti-science mindsets, which I think is sad. Right-wingers just seem to be at the front of science denial for some reason.
