Will 5k parts be too laggy for a game's map?

It all depends on how spread out those parts are. I've seen showcases run 20 to 30k but work fine because of the map size.

Well they're pretty close together, and it lags while in studio IN edit mode, but it's okay when I am testing it/playing in a server. I'm just worried it might lag more combined with the scripts of the game later if it's added.

Ive got about 7500 in my workshop, but its not laggy really, doing things in studio like unanchor/reanchor is extremely slow, as is doing anything after selecting all the parts, but it plays fine at max settings and im not running a beast of a pc or anything, its a little core2duo machine with windows xp and a gt 710 |

If they're close together, just union like crazy. I've worked on a project that had a ton of lag because we were at 10k or so, so we unioned down to about 2k.

Yeah I've been unioning everything I can. I think what's causing the high part count is the roofs, they're italian houses and I made those italian shingled roofs on each of them except they won't union, that old union error, so each house has a roof with around 50 parts so yeah. Anyways yeah it just lags in studio, trying to move parts around and selecting parts and stuff, but it is fine for now in-game and I am almost done so let's hope for the best. Thanks guys.
