Well to be in particular, the 90's was just interesting the Cold War ended when USSR collapsed, it led to the birth of the World Wide Web, video game console war between SEGA and Nintendo and later SONY.
In other words since the Cold War ended, everyone mostly thought that everything will get better and there won't be another bad thing happening again. But then it all ended with 9/11.
In fact it fairly and commonly agreed that the 90's culturally began when Nirvana released the song Smells Like Teen Spirit, and culturally ended in either 9/11, 2000 Presidential Election, or some say it ended when the first social networks were made in 2003.

The 90's began January 1st, 1990 at 00:00 and ended December 31st, 1999 at 23:59.
Why do we, as a species, put so much effort into defining time periods anyway? In 73 years it'll be the 90's again. |

@eastsideforever
Yeah it was the end in many ways. For instance SEGA went bankrupt and stop contributing to the console industry in 2003.

That could also be disputed to even culturally ended the 90s to some people. To be fair nobody really can agree how the 90's culturally ended, but most people believe 9/11 is what made it culturally end.

9/11 was the repercussion of failed foreign policy during the eighties and nineties.
I find it hard to believe that it was the cause of culturally ending the nineties. |
