It's because you don't lift a finger to learn the terminal. sudo apt-get brain Install Gentoo to start out, it's easy. |

I've used Debian for around 4 months now or so, I'm loving it way more than windows. So yes, I'll admit I did recently discover it. |

Sorry for starting on this again, I can't help it really. It's a bad habbit of me to like different and in some ways better software and things in general. Whatever os you have, fine by me. |

@Zh
That's the thing though, why would I spend hours on end learning how to operate Linux distros and alternative open source software when Windows and it's vast library of software exists, not to mention it's ease of use and compatibility
Even more, I am already familiar with it and can resolve issues I may have quickly by searching the web, because the user base is so large that there's bound to be an answer for most problems with a variety of software and hardware

1. Linux userbase is extremely large and has an amazing community, not as big as os x or windows but still big. 2. Linux in some ways is even easier than Windows. It's just a different way of doing things. 3. You can run a whole bunch of Windows software on linux using a software called vvine (with w replacing the vv's). |

1. Yes, okay. Still not as big and certain topics lack information/coverage. 2. In some ways, yes. But I have used Ubuntu and Linux Mint enough to know that even the most user friendly Linux distros do things randomly without explanation... Lol 3. Come on, if you've ever used vwine for anything other than office software then you know it either flat out doesn't work or needs a lot of tweaking
If you enjoy Linux then that's fine with me, I just really don't get along with open source operating systems and software in general, because a part from a few exceptions it lacks the polish of commercial products, mostly in terms of design language and functionality.

1. Sorry but there's as much information about linux than you could ever want. Maybe you're searching info about a CERTAIN distri, try searching about the problem in general, you'd most likely find it. 2. Like I said, it's just as user friendly as windows. Just take maybe 2 hours out of your freetime to learn stuff about it. 3. I have to agree, it does work with a lot of software but gaming is still a bit of a problem. If you want games, download emulators on Linux. It's easier to get them running on linux than on windows anyways! |

1. Ubuntu is turning into windows 10. Search engine sends data to amazon wich displays ads based on what you searched. 2. Arch brakes easily, it's an annoyance to even the most advance users 3. Elementary OS is heavy on recourses 4. Red hat last updated over 10 years ago, RHEL is still updated however it's software support it pretty limited. Debian is probably the most stable linux, one of the most software libraries too. Lightweight as crud too! |

W-why...are you on Windows 2000?! It's a great os to be fair but it's so outdated... You should consider downloading an os called debian, it has more software than 2000 and has better security! |

| That's basically Windows XP, outdated but great. Also, note the fact that even the U.S. Navy still uses XP and they even signed a contract to have critical updates installed until the year 2020 something. |

The only reason why they still use xp because of the costs of upgrading. There's no reason to not upgrade, hackers are still creating malware for Windows 2000, xp and more. I wouldn't be suprised that some sort of malware has crawled on your pc. |
