Hey everyone, I plan to make a game similar to minecraft in the sense of terrain, I have achieved a nice looking terrain but I have quite a few issues. I need to add alot more:
-Water and sand generation? -Trees and flowers -Cave systems -Misc Features such as temples.
If anyone could provide any help or links to this topic i would be very grateful.
Thanks to everyone for reading |

| I'd like to thank everyone for visiting and providing feedback so far, I would now like to ask if anyone knows if it would be possible to keep a roblox server loaded, e.g always have a player in the server. This would greatly benefit the game as the map would not be required to load whenever someone joins. |

| Yes it takes a few minutes to load i'm afraid. I'm going to be adding a loading screen to give the world some time to generate. Thanks for the feedback |

| Basic loading gui has been implemented and the large render distance has been decreased in favor of another method I shall use |

you can't keep it open forever, you can keep it open for 30 seconds after all players leave using game:BindToClose

| Anyone here have thoughts on how to create the illusion that the world is infinite and not just generating as you approach it? I'm playing around with lighting fog but i'd love some ideas and suggestions |

| I've chosen to have the world generated both client and server sided as this will allow the client to have different graphic quality settings while also being consistent with the rest of the players. My current issue is to how i'd approach this, would i be required to send data to the clients about the location of every block? |

| I do work in chunks, each 16x16 blocks is a chunk. |

Doesn't seem like it.
The game continually uses more memory as you move out. |

| I suggest that you add more texture and detail to the blocks. I also believe that adding music and/or sounds will make the player's experience more exciting. |

Adding music and sounds is a great idea, i'll be adding that to the to-do list. I've changed the blocks slightly to give more detail but understand that they can't be too detailed due the quantity of them. I will look into the saveplace api, thanks again for all the suggestions and comments, keep em coming! |

| Rewriting the entire system to render the world client sided seems to be the best solution atm, after this is done (may take some time) i'll get back to you all with updates, in the mean time this place will remain open for you all to visit and leave comments. |
