| I recently completed a test and got these Algebra questions right. (I am really good at math) So I chose to make a forum to see if anyone can get any of these algebra 2 equations and questions right! (6 Questions total) Problem 1: Solve the equation 5(-3x - 2) - (x - 3) = -4(4x + 5) + 13 Problem 2: Simplify the expression 2(a -3) + 4b - 2(a -b -3) + 5 Problem 3: (hint: If x <2, simplify) |x - 2| - 4|-6| Problem 4: (hint: SUBTRACT THEM!!!) Find the distance between the points (-4 , -5) and (-1 , -1). Problem 5: (Hint: Find the x intercept of the graph of the equation) 2x - 4y = 9 Problem 6: Evaluate f(2) - f(1) #### = 6x + 1 |

ill just do this one
2(a -3) + 4b - 2(a -b -3) + 5
= 2a - 6 + 4b - 2a -2b -6 + 5 =2a - 2a + 4b -2b + 5 - 6 - 6 =2b - 7
am i right

5(-3x - 2) - (x - 3) = -4(4x + 5) + 13
-15x-10-x+3=-16x-20+13 -16x-7-x=-16x-7 0=0 |

I'll solve a few of them to help you out a bit.
Problem 1:
5(-3x - 2) - (x - 3) = -4(4x + 5) + 13 (-15x - 10) - (x - 3) = (-16x - 20) + 13 -15x - 10 - x + 3 = -16x - 20 + 13 -16x - 7 = -16x - 7
Answer : Infinitely many solutions
Problem 2:
2(a - 3) + 4b - 2(a - b - 3) + 5 2a - 6 + 4b - 2a + 2b + 6 + 5 6b + 5
Problem 3:
Assuming it's asking you to simplify an expression
|x - 2| - 4|-6| |x - 2| - |-24| |x - 2| - 24
Assuming it's asking you to solve for x
|x - 2| - 24 = 0 |x - 2| = 24
x - 2 = 24 x = 26
x - 2 = -24 x = -22

Problem 4:
This is asking you to use distance formula which is:
d = √( (x2 - x1)^2 + (y2 - y1)^2 ) for coordinates (x1, y1) and (x2, y2), and where ^ denotes an exponent.
You can apply it like so:
d = √( (-1 - (-4))^2 + (-1 - (-5)^2) ) = √( (-1 + 4)^2 + (-1 + 5)^2 ) = √(3^2 + 4^2) = √(9 + 16) = √(25) = 5
Problem 5:
The x-intercept occurs at y = 0, so you can insert 0 into the equation for y to find the x-intercept and then simplify
2x - 4(0) = 9 2x = 9 x = 4.5
Problem 6:
Some of this is blocked out so I can't help you.

Oh wait, you didn't need homework help. You were challenging us haha.
Anyways, these are NOT "Algebra 2" questions, these are more Pre-Algebra questions.
