So normally I don't make anything of the dumb troll threads about God being real or fake since most people here aren't liable to know much, anyway. But, I saw many of these last night, and it made me contemplate the topic as I was drifting off to sleep. Spent quite a while thinking about it. I definitely believe in God, but I was thinking of the possibilities, that's the best way I can put it.
The reason I think God is real is because, quite simply, the Bible exists, and it's said to be the word of God directly to mankind, correct? Correct. Now, mankind DID write the Bible. No question about that. But it's still the word of God because his prophets are the one who helped create it, to put it in layman's terms. Now, ask yourself, how could God have communicated with mankind to write the Bible if he doesn't exist?
Pretty cool, huh? Sort of acknowledges our place in the world, I suppose.

| Why do you think primitive men prior to the information era would just decide to start writing stories which tell in great detail of the existence of a higher being |

| How do you know that he communicated through people? How do you know it's still not just a group of people who wanted to write a book full of rules for morality? |

"Why do you think primitive men prior to the information era would just decide to start writing stories which tell in great detail of the existence of a higher being" You're acting like this is in the caveman days. It was only a couple thousand years ago according to the bible, which, in scientific terms of time, is absolutely no time at all. |

As I said in your other thread, during the exile, the jws needed to record what was happening during that time. And thus, they created the books of the old testament.
In fact certain stories such as the creation were reactions to beliefs of other people such as the Babylonians.

The Big Bang is a phenomenon and God triggered it... There's only 1% chance that we existed and that 1% happened... That's no overexaguration okay..

As Sano ( bless his name ) said in the other thread, the Bible wasn't written in one day or even a week, it was written over the period of several centuries.
How would the Bible maintain consistency in its facts if a higher power had not assisted in the making? |

| Yes I don't see why people think the Big Bang theory and God are mutually exclusive. The Big Bang was God creating our universe |

It didn't maintain consistency, what are you even talking about?
When copies of the bible and their books were being translated or rewritten, the people doing it made several mistakes, perhaps changing words around or forgetting things entirely. Also, the bible was originally written in Hebrew, so there were probably many mistranslations as well. |

| I'm willing to offer sources on my information, Caden. However, they're disputing my statements and making the claim that God did not assist in the writing of the Bible. As always, burden of proof is upon the claimant. Once they express their views I'll disprove them |
