This thought has been coming to my mind recently, so I figured I would ask for some opinions from the community.
It's always commonplace to create an avatar based on your real-life appearance, or at least as close as you can get to it. But sometimes people, like myself, choose to deviate from themselves behind the screen and attempt to create their personal interpretations of who they are or would like to be by the use of their avatar. For some, this even means creating an avatar of the ###osite gender or that possesses an appearance that combats that of their exterior looks.
My inquiry is this; do you think it would be within someone's position to insult another person or player based on how they represent themselves ingame? I see it more times than I can count, and frankly, it's a bit discouraging sometimes to know that people will stoop as low as to hit someone where it hurts,
After all, it is just a game. But on the other hand, it can also be seen as a safe zone full of freedom and self-expression. What are your thoughts on this matter? |
