I would like the staff to optimize ROBLOX for at least a dual core setup.
Ran tests - Placed 3 snowfall scripts in my place, then looked at task manager while the game was running. Most of it is dumped onto one core.
While one core works, I find this rather inefficient, as I have a quad-core processor (or possibly dual with hyper threading). With most modern computers having at least a dual core setup, don't you think it's a good idea up update the code a little?
With multiple core optimization:
-Increased efficiency, I'm not sure if ROBLOX is relying on GPU or GPCPU or the integrated graphics, but allowing for multiple core optimization will allow for smother game play, and less of the lag, as there are more cores handling the workload. -It will also be better on the computers themselves, as using a one core process generates a lot of heat. -Performance boost
I haven't been on ROBLOX for about 2 years, so my apologies of this has been suggested before, and yes, I have somewhat of an idea of what I am talking about (It's also late, and I want to go to sleep hence the brevity of this post).
Bump if you want: Less lag, smoother gameplay
Thanks ~Lordhenry10 |

| I do understand that this is somewhat technical issue, so if I am the only one to bump this, then so be it. |

@codyk12
Thanks!
I also just remembered something, if ROBLOX doesn't have GPU support, it should also be added.
Multiple core optimization = increased Parallel Processing, which is the cause of increased efficiency.
That being said, a CPU is better at doing a few complicated tasks at once, rather than a GPU, which is better then doing many simple operations at once.
Another idea for optimization, is to have the scripting done by the CPU, because that is what it specializes in, and to have the place itself be handled by a GPU. Something like the GeForce GT 650M with it's 384 shader cores will certainly render the scene better. Nvidia PhysX also wouldn't hurt. for that matter.
Just to clarify, I'm not too sure how ROBLOX is built at the moment, so if it already uses these, then this can be disregarded.
This is really just asking for performance improvements client side. |

I Support. It will also be good if Roblox had Oct Core GPU support too. My laptop has a Dual Core CPU and its nVidia has an Oct Core GPU. And I got my Laptop back in the Summer of 2009. Newer computers may have more than double the cores of what mine has. (In both CPU & GPU.)
Have A Great Day! :-D

| That's not how programming, threading and cores work. |

@pugzy I meant that newer computers tend to have more CPU and GPU cores. There are computers that have a 2GHz. But are faster than mine because they have 8 cores while mine only has 2. And their GPU's may have up to 16 cores. (idk if those are out yet.) While my 1.1GHz GPU has 8 cores.
My computer does lag when I have a Roblox game running. (Even if its just building on an Empty base place in Studio.)

@StealthLava
thanks!
Dual core + ht is somewhat better then octa-core cpu, because at that die size, it would just waste power, unless you are running a server, you really don't need more then 4 cores. Im guessing your computer has an AMD cpu built on the bulldozer/piledriver architecture
@Pugzy
This suggestion is meant to modernize the client.

You're not modernizing the client. You can't program to use more cores, because that's not how it works. The only way to use more cores is to create more threads. But a single core can handle many threads. Your OS controls which core handles what. |

Support, Phantom Forces running on multiples cores would be very good and may be less lagging...

| @stealthlava you have your gpu cores all messed up unless you are talking about low end integrated graphics. usually a high end dedicated gpu has around 1024 cores a high end integrated gpu has like 36 and 48 the difference between cpu and gpu is that gpu is meant to do wayyyyy more multitasking at a slower pace |

Roblox doesn't have GPU Support, really?
+1
I always wondered why my work station with an i7, GTX 750Ti and 8GB of RAM ran Roblox so slow... |

| roblox is only 32bit so it only has acces to 4gb ram bu only enourmous games would use that much |

This idea was proposed in 2013, but when I switched over from my laptop that had better single core performance over to my new desktop that has better multicore performance but worse single core performance, I easily noticed that most ROBLOX games dropped in FPS, which is horrible for quick reflex-requiring games such as Phantom Forces and Counter Blox: Roblox Offensive, some of the most popular games on ROBLOX. I highly suggest that the ROBLOX team take this into consideration.
