Last suggestion thread i'm going to make about the filter, ok. Please mods, at least take one idea from this thread. Anyway, TL;DR warning right now. If you want to get the general idea of that suggestion just look at the title that looks like this >>>>>"Title here"<<<< with the title in the middle obviously.
1.>>>>Get rid of sift, and leave what is filtered up to the em @ 1 l of the user<<< Some of us can admit the filter is pretty bad at times. Can't even put in names for roleplay that aren't inappropriate, or can't say words like "i". I understand why though. ROBLOX, I see you want to keep kids safe on the internet and prevent them from seeing something inappropriate. Prevent 6 year olds from being told or seeing things they shouldn't have seen, but why not leave that up to the parents? Their the ones that should be protecting their kids (not saying that you should leave EVERYTHING up to them though). So here is how it's going to work. New users don't have to put their age on sign up. However, the user cannot chat until they set up their e m 4 i l. They can't type freely, and have to use preselected words. Setting up your e m 4 i l will be in settings as usual, but there will be # warning telling the user to get his/her parents if they are below 13 years of age. One of the parents put in their e m 4 i l and confirm that that is the e m 4 i l ## usual. Except, they will get another message. The message contains what age the user is so ROBLOX knows, and allows you to set what things the user says that will be filtered, and what things they see that will be filtered. Bam, right there, no giving out personal information. 13+ can have no filters at all since i've seen people say they have no problem with cursing, but if you do the option to filter some words is right there.
Question you may ask:"But wait, what if the kid steals his parent's phone or somehow manages to get into their e m 4 i l account?"
Well, that is kind of the parent's fault to begin with. But if they REALLY want to prevent that from happening, then parent's can use the two step verification or a code they set. Which brings me to my next suggestion.
2.>>>User must enter a code or their two step verification code (the one I mentioned at the end of 1) to confirm purchases, deleting items, or trading.<<<
Not for 13+ by the way, but an option. This way, less scamming will happen. So if someone SOMEHOW manages to get into your account and tries to delete your limited they won't be able to unless they know that code. If this already exists then forget I even suggested it.
3.>> Use the idea for 1 I used for user input in GUIs and other things that require user input instead of the current filter<<
Roleplay name problem fixed. The "what the user sees that would be filtered" still applies to this though. Also helps for other stuff. Although, i'm not a scripter so...
4.>>>Make a thread in the right place for stuff about your game, and for stuff about your group<<< Now we don't need comments, and we won't have people posting stuff about their game in the wrong forum. Right below your game description would be a button that makes directs you to making a thread about your game in Game Marketing: https://forum.roblox.com/Forum/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=62 or Game Design: https://forum.roblox.com/Forum/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=40 and for clans:https://forum.roblox.com/Forum/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=32 However, not just ANYONE can reply to these. To be able to reply you have to have played the game for X amount of time (choosen by the developer). So for players there would be something you could press below the game description that takes you to the thread and ONLY allows you to reply if you have played for X amount of time.
Also, there would be a questionaire of how you heard about the game. Such as from friends, from a group, from an ad. Just so you can tell whether it's biased or not since a #riend could tell you "This game sucks a lot! You should go and make hate comments on it!" Highly doubt that though so, you don't need to add the questionaire.
5.>>If something is inappropriate, remove it from the chat completely<<< Pound sign, or hashtag. Whatever you want to call it. It litters the chat. We don't need our chat filled with hashtags if we can't understand what it means. Instead, remove what the person said, then a sign in the chat with a reason why. It's like the [Content Deleted] from 2013 and back but your content wasn't there at all and you are given a reason why. Obviously it would be "Word was restricted by e m @ 1 l ." Or something like that.
--Conclusion-- This used to just be about the filter, but then I used the ideas I already had and branched off just a bit to fix some other problems. If you support, then say which one or just say support all if you support all of them. If you don't support, then please at least give a reason. This isn't completely about the filter now. Mods please, at least consider one of these. Just one would be good enough for me.
