i really dont agree with the "fall apart" or "collapse" logic used in debating any sports comeback
football is a 60 minute game, and sometimes the games last longer. one team must out-perform the other for 60 minutes. inevitably, mistakes will be made by both teams over the course of play. you often hear that the team that makes fewer mistakes will win. using this logic, it doesn't matter when the mistakes are made.
if a team loses due to mistakes, you can either call it a collapse 100% of the time, or you can say that the team didn't perform well enough to win 100% of the time. i disagree with the notion that if a team has a sizable lead after a certain amount of time and loses, it is a collapse. it's not like the game ends after 40 minutes of what have you. if a team doesn't win due to late mistakes, they didn't collapse, they simply lost, just like teams that lose in any other fashion. |
