In it you can go FTL between star systems, but I wondered how fast you actually went.
In the game, it takes 14 seconds to get from our sun (Sol) to Alpha Centauri. This means you are travelling 41,440,000,000,000 kilometers in 14 seconds. Doing some math this means you are going 2,960,000,000,000 kilometers/second. Converting that to miles/hour means we get 6,621,331,424,481,031 miles/hour.
So basically by going from Sol to Alpha Centauri in the game, you are going 9,882,600.59c, or 9,882,600.59 times the speed of light.

This also means you're going 1126.34 light years/hour.

@FGE
You can do that, actually. If you go at the cruising speeds of the star ships if gives you an ETA of how many months or >1 year, depending on how far you are.

wait... so it gives you the option to actually wait the many YEARS it takes to get to a star. That's cool.

Going at the 1126.34 light years/hour, it would take about 3.7 days to cross the Milky Way.

no I meant like real life spaceship speed. It would take years cause we can't go over the speed of light as of yet
