learn the cowboy chords first
then learn how to hold a fret with every finger
then do some scales
after that do hammer ones and pull offs
all basic stuff |

| i'm trying to play fast paced punk rock, i've heard you just play randomly and don't really follow a specific riff |

search up justinguitar's website
it's free and teaches you how to play guitar
but be patient though
and every beginner should start with chords not fretting |

btw it will hurt for the first time if you haven't developed callus, so don't try to overplay or you will get blisters
once you get your callus though you can play as long as you want |

Yeah, it was hurting my fingers a little..
For some reason when I switch chords or strings, whatever you call them, it makes a little vibrate noise, am i not holding down the stings hard enough? |

no it's fine, it used to happen to me too when I first started out.
once you develop your callus though you should not hear that sound that often, or not at all sometimes
but sometimes it could mean something is wrong with your guitar but since your a beginner I doubt it |

| I think it means i'm not switching/sliding across strings fast enough. Because when I do it fast, it doesn't make the vibration noise. |

| it doesn't make a vibration noise because the other sounds are almost "muting" it when you do it fast |

| but don't try to play fast if you haven't developed your callus, you can get some serious blisters, it happened to me one time because I wanted to test myself |

learn theory alongside your guitar playing
learn about chordal theory, modes, and common chord progressions
music with a lot of really interesting chordal changes (stuff thatll make you go "wow how does that work? it sounds good") are like the beach boys, the beatles, simon and garfunkel, etc.
learn what notes are in each chord too so you can recite them in your head, like be able to think of FMaj7 and be able to say F A C E or E major E G# B, this comes in handy for scales later LATER on in playing, years down the road but youll thank me
ive been doing guitar bass piano and vocals for 7~ years and have had gigging experience innaband, even performed an original piece |

its easy to learn it before you even pickup an instrument imo
learn how to make gorgeous non-diatonic chord progressions / chromatic basslines / interesting key changes / mode changes / progressions that involve the parallel key |

yeah but you need to have sense of an instrument atleast, a math student wouldn't get any of that without some basic knowledge of how music works
piano really shows this as its really versatile |

yeah
and barre chords and jazz chords
also do a ton of guitar stretching exercises and weird exercises like the spider or something
practice with a metronome and do these A LOT early on, it may seems boring but watch yt videos while you do it with earbuds but make sure youre playing correct, also learn how to do PROPER vibrato and different types, nothing is cringier than bad vibrato imo, wrist vibrato imo is some of the most beautiful vibrato there is, and use lighter gauges if you're a noob, its okay to use .7 - .9
