Why havent you made a really awesome game? I see alot of helpful people on this subforum who seem to have a very advance knowledge of Lua and good potential, yet i don't seem them doing anything big. What is your reason for not jumping on studio and start making your big game?

This question has been asked many a times.

1. Roblox owns rights to anything we make, which is published with them
2. Roblox sucks for game making
3. Roblox studio sucks
4. Roblox is overly restrictive
5. Chances are we have to buy robux to get our place out there
6. Chances are we won't come close to the minimum dev exchange, which costs OBC to do
7. We are concerned about scripting or programming, not creating games
8. We have absolutely no idea what to make
9. We don't want to put time into games
10. We rather make cool modules to do stuff better and the game never gets finished
11. Our target audience is kiddos

Unless you have connections or are rich it's very hard to get a game on the front page.

This is most of it

1. Rocrap sold out
- Closed source engine
- Rocrap can use anything you make in any way they want
- Unoptimized
- Must cater to 8 year olds. Don't want to filter chat? You can forget about making games
- Must deal with crappy updates that are targeted to cancerous mobile scrubs
- Only listens to top "dev"s aka bad updates
- Break features to save a little bit of money
- Removed tix that provided income to non-sellouts
- Pushes microtransactions
- Studio uses too much bandwidth and it messes with my internet. Of course rocrap wouldn't know or care because they pay $10k/month for their internet
- It's a pain to use studio offline. Need to run a script to play solo and many features don't work. (Color3.fromRGB, etc)
- Adds features that make "dev"s even lazier, such as unions, instead of creating more BaseParts.
- Not enough power given to "dev"s. But of course if they gave us more power, it would be abused by almost everyone since rocrap made bad "dev"s that will do anything for more money
- Comments removed to save money
- Automated moderation. Have to wait a while for uploaded assets to be usable, if they get accepted at all
- Rules that don't apply to everyone. Terrible rules too (only certain offsite links (unless you're a "dev" of course))
- Give certain people an unfair advantage (microtransactions), but give BCers a disadvantage and you'll likely get terminated
2. Game ratings which are useless when the community is full of kids

Dang, I was wanting to make a simple military base escape game, but with all those reasons that very convincing as to not make a game on this crappy site. So if i wanted to make a 3d game that consists of roaming around, what engine and language should i start looking into?

Actually, ROBLOX does not own the rights anymore. They give the creators the rights during their terms update a few months ago. I believe they didn't want to take responsibility for copyrighted content.

Also OP don't let them drive you away. They're only listing the negatives.
I for one am currently making a game with robux I've earned, not bought. ROBLOX is a great place to make games, especially with what you get for free. Free hosting, free physics, free pretty much anything.

Obviously ROBLOX has limitations that are stupid and annoying but it's not the hole they're making it out to be.

Because a common problem I have is i'm not very creative unless it involves code, so I have to create games that have already been made, and I'm terrible at modeling. And my motivation drops after I've been working on a project for too long.

Unions are actual models, which should have less face counter. Therefore faster games. They also can look better, instead of having glitchy tearing that occurs when two faces can't determine who is on who.

I mean I have worked on a decently successful project but what everyone said here is right. You can't be insanely child friendly and a serious development platform at the same time.

The forced filtering is a perfect example. I'm required to filter anything that any other user may be able to see. The problem? This basically destroys chat logs for my moderators. I can understand mandatory filtering for things publicly visible, but I shouldn't have to filter something that only ten or so specific users will ever be able to see.
