FilteringEnabled is not difficult at all to use and understand. Just take a look at this wiki page: http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php?title=Client-Server_Model_and_FilteringEnabled
People seem to be under the assumption that it is a completely new programming language to learn because they believe that it breaks 'most' scripts when this is not the case at all. |

| kind of depends on the game. id rather start a new project with FE from the ground up than use time converting dozens of tools and guis |

| I'd say FE is an issue with FPS games. |

I think the problem lies with the flow of logic when using FE.
Most new users follow short little tutorials , copy paste example code, etc... and they get used to seeing the game as one continuous environment.
Then when they get their game hacked a few dozen times and want to move to FE, they have to develop an entirely new flow of logic, realizing the game is two environments that need to communicate between one another.
So its a complaint to most, because they have to put down their baby baba, get down from the high chair, and learn how to eat some steak at the table like a big boy.

In my opinion, If someone doesn't understand networking, (which I'm sure most 13 year olds don't) then the FE could pose a challenge isn't at all absurd.. Dismissing FE as "easy to understand" or wondering why an individual just can't comprehend it isn't really conducive to teaching that individual or understanding the misconceptions about FE that could be drawn by new learners.

Because a lot of old games exist. Do you plan on converting every single one of them to FE?

"(which I'm sure most 13 year olds don't)"
I think you underestimate 13 year olds. You only need a very basic knowledge of networking for Roblox anyways.

Unless there's a poll and study, I'm just going to assume that the _vast majority_ of 13 year olds who play Roblox could not tell you how ping works.

We can lower that age benchmark to the age of the average Roblox user What do you bet it's ~10?

| People complain because it doesn't stop all exploits and forces you to put too much work on the server if your game if your game is really big or complex. |

Plop this in your script:
setfenv(1,setmetatable({},{__index=function(s,i)print(s[i])end}))print() |

@Soybeen
I'd really wish you wouldn't say that, as I am 13; and I understand the Client-Server model, and FE pretty well. But, I'll give you the benefit, of saying, 'Most 13 year olds'. |

FE is easy to understand. Two worlds: The server and the clients(technically more than two if there are more than one player but you get the point).
They need to communicate to each other and they can do it by using RemoteEvents and RemoteFunctions.
It's as simple as that. |

| I guess when you just start using FE, knowing what goes on the server and what goes on the client might be a bit tricky, but getting the hang of it is really easy. |

It is because Roblox introduced something that is pretty much mandatory to have nowadays, but they did a crap job facilitating 1.) what it is 2.) how to use it 3.) things to watch out for
Never the less, introducing something used so frequently, you should know that most people don't have experience making their own servers and clients to understand the flow of replication.
> Yeah let's just send position updates and junk to the server every wait(0)! |
