yes, people are running out of ideas as everything is a "graphically realistic" gun game with terrible singleplayer and local multiplayer
i'd create an actually original custom fighting game

| I want to create Either a 3rd person shooter similar to Kid icarus uprising and megaman legends. Or create a Jojo fighting game on roblox. IDK, just weird dreams of mine. |

It's not that they are running out of ideas, they just will not think of any ideas. Most people who make games today go for what they thing will get them the most money and copy games that have been successful for others. That's why there are so many Minecraft clones and why a lot of fps are the same generic game.
Game developers are too scared to go for something unique and original in fear of not being successful.

I find in the age of "GameCube" as a large console, many of Nintendo's games were unique, fun for all ages, and were outside the box. It seems like games now are often first-person shooters with realistic graphics. I'd like to see new innovative "family-friendly" games that aren't kiddish and are engaging for all ages.

@Kardashian The original Xbox had some fun games, too. The Oddworld series was great. The GameCube is the biggest part of my childhood, and I agree with you on all of that. I hope Super Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2 actually save the Industry. |

There will always be new ideas for games. But right now we have some dry mainstream stuff. Your typical annual shooters, Freemium games (Or Pay 2 Win if you like to call it) coming out left and right, you have Super Mario every year. So there is lots of stuff that has sameness, but it doesn't mean they are bad to play.
Indie games on the other hand are vibrant with ideas. Owlboy (which I haven't played yet) has had some rave reviews and it seems to be a completely original idea. Other stuff like Visuals Novels are making a huge boom nowadays on Steam.
So there will always be new ideas coming out once in a while. I want games with extreme edge and controversy, like how violent can you take your game? How far can you push the boundaries from M to AO?
Thankfully, I am planning to study Video Game Development and one day I'll open up my own studio to make some original, fun, thought provoking and cinematic games. So I'll be helping the industry somehow. |

If you're looking for refreshing gameplay and new gameplay concepts then you need to go to indie and small developers.
Big name "AAA" titles and other well etablished series always tend to play it safe and stick with the same gameplay elements because that is what made them popular to begin with. People buy Battlefield games for the same core gameplay elements that they have become familliar with, but with refinements to those elements and perhaps new ones as well. |
