Please discuss only these two gamemodes. The campaign mode will take some time to make and will probably involve missions including these gamemodes, so it would make sense to make and release these as gamemode updates first.
Wonder gamemode Alliances: 2 vs 2 vs 2 / 3 vs 3 Objective: To get enough resources to build a very expensive building in one of a limited amount of spots in the map. It costs money to build and then you must build it up with repairmen/engineers. Details: Making you sacrifice your defense for soldiers that help towards winning the objective helps balance out your alliance’s standing vs the other’s. The building cannot be destroyed, only perhaps be sent backwards in building progress. Only one wonder per alliance can be built and it cannot have any buildings nearby.
Stronghold gamemode Alliances: 6 vs AI Objective: To destroy an Al’s large fortified base as fast as possible. Details: The AI has a limited amount of money and can rebuild and make new units to counter attacks. This gamemode is not meant to last forever like Survival, instead it’s meant to see what strategies you can come up with to finish the round as fast as possible.

The only issue I see with the Stronghold game mode is what is stopping people from just using artillery and stealth bombers to clear out the majority of a "stronghold"?
I can use stealth bombers and artillery on a completely AFK player and have no casualties since artillery takes out all buildings that will shoot my bombers and soldiers can't damage bombers.
The only loophole if the AI has tanks and attempts to actively attack players who come within a certain radius of the stronghold.

| Could always disable artillery, lower its range, or let the AI have a special building to effectively counter it. |

Hmm. Well, having been only an on/off player of Conquerors, Stronghold sounds fun, and wonder doesn't very much. |

| Stronghold could be everyone starting at the same crystal and going around the map destroying different AI bases. |

| No I'd rather have the AI be in one spot in the map, designed to give it the defensive edge. |

| I don't know what you're talking about, TC3 will not take place at any point that did not involve tanks. |

The Wonder gamemode... My understanding: Get money, build a Wonder, scare away the enemy with a big army, maybe delay progress of other Wonders. Doesn't sound too exciting. Make it a weapon of mass destruction, and I'd be a little more intrigued. Especially if that becomes a part of the campaign.
Stronghold gamemode. Well, I expect this gamemode to *really* make me think. Not just a straight up make a big army over and over to wear away at 'em. Add some timing, use of the terrain, and overall things more puzzling than in the Conquest gamemode. |

I really like the sound of the Stronghold game mode, though I have a few questions:
- Is the AI base going to be generated in the same way every time?
In my opinion, if the AI base is generated in the same way every time then players will eventually find the single fastest method to destroy the base. If it is randomized, then it will be more difficult for a single method to work to destroy the base the fastest every round. - Is the AI base going to consist of the same buildings every time?
If the AI base generates with different buildings each time, it will take a lot of skill from players and the team itself to be able to create a method in which will take the base out the fastest. If the AI has the same amount of buildings each time, then one single method may be able to take it down faster than other methods. - If a building is destroyed will the AI rebuild that same building?
If the AI rebuilds the same building that is destroyed, then players may be able to take out the more costly buildings first and have the AI rebuild them to deplete their cash faster than if they were to randomize what is built for defense. - Will the AI have a fixed amount of money?
If the AI has a fixed amount of money, then once it is all used up the base will die rather quickly. I would think that having a stream of money like the rest of the players may be useful in that it gives the sense of urgency - that the team has to defeat it quickly or else they will have more money to repair it if they wait. - Will the AI recruit repairmen to repair their base?
If the AI recruit repairmen, it may make it difficult for players to take it down over a long period of time - they would have to focus all their power into a single brute force attack that will hurt the base before it can be rebuilt. - Will the AI counter our attacks with missiles/nukes/fire missiles?
If the AI can counter attacks with missiles, it may be very difficult for players to defeat it. Though, if the AI can only create them as fast as normal players, it may be a good strategy to attack before another nuke is launched. - Will we be able to create a silo and fire missiles?
The way in which I would tackle this game mode would to have the entire team have silos and fire missile the base to death since it would spread to a lot of buildings and units and if done right after each other, it may be able to take out a large portion of the base quickly.

The AI base will build itself. It'll produce it's own units too.
It'll use the buildings it deems necessary
Yeah the AI will have limited money. Maybe it has a set amount and some plants in the middle, dunno.
Yeah the AI will fire missiles. I may cheat and let it build more than one.
Yeah you'll probably be able to make your own nukes, but I may release anti-nuke turret with this gamemode.
AI could always fire missiles against human nuclear silos.
The balancing will take some time but it'll be done right. |

These two gamemodes sound great. Thanks for the short descriptions on them, I wasn't sure what you meant when you first mentioned them.
The Wonder gamemode sounds interesting. I've always felt engineers deserved more uses, but overall the idea sounds a bit loose to me. I don't want it to end up feeling too similar to the classic conquer gamemode like KotH did. Perhaps some new system of/ features for gathering resources/ cash?
Stronghold gamemode sounds like fun. Like survival, but this time the AI play defense and we play offense. At its simplest, sounds a lot like a TC3 twist on a boss/ juggernaut gamemode. I'd like to see some new content/ features in this gamemode as well, but either way it sounds like it can't fail.

| I think stronghold is gonna be the best game mode because it takes team work plus trying to attack AI and not defend against them like in survival is way more cooler. |

Stronghold sounds really fun, wonder sounds a bit awry. Just some problems though: 1. If the AI starts out with lots of money/buildings it could just take everyone down straight away(right?). 2. If the base has a large fixed amount of money, what's to stop it spamming forts and HQ's and silos? Bit too OP...
Also when would this come out? It would seriously test our teamwork skills, I'd love to see it. |
