| I have more problems with exploitative capitalism than I do the typical fare, wherein competing businesses serve to benefit the consumer. This type of competition DOES NOT exist for pharmaceutical companies holding patents for ###### |

It was being produced well before Shrekli purchased rights to the medication; in fact he did so simply because he believed he could make a huge profit on the medicine.
In my opinion, he probably shouldn't have bothered to even touch daraprim. I have no sympathy for his financial troubles as a result of it. |

FIRST OFF YOU DIDNT ANSWER MY QUESTION XDDDDD
Regarding your statement about it being produced:
It was until Shkreli bought the patent to the USA that it became widely produced,
Anyone can make a medicine like that, but they don't, WHY?!?!?! because the cost of research wouldn't be worth it.
Obviously money backed up the price increase....you wouldnt even have advl if it wern't for people like shkreli
so honestly, stop neglecting the basic facts

| If something isn't profitable, I don't assume people would produce it. THAT BEING SAID, the price jump in daraprim came from the insanely high price Turing paid for exclusive rights to market the formulation. Again, I have no sympathy for his financial hardships and feel inclined to remind you that there are people out there making these compounds for less than their market price. Heck, it only takes ~20 USD to synthesize ############## the primary ingredient in daraprim. |

My uncle has to take a bus to Canada to buy this stuff now
It's literally cheaper to get to Canada and buy it and then come all the way back than to buy it in America
He saves like 75% of money he would have to spend it on here in the Us |

| The bill itself is 750 USD; I don't know what copays individual insurance companies have with respect to daraprim. According to CNN, it cost ~375 USD out of pocket for patients in the USA on average. 20% copayments paid 150 USD. |

| You know of American insurance companies offering a 0% copay? If not, then you'd still be paying more with a ~1% copay (7.5 USD) than you would in the UK, Australia, or Canada. |
