I respect classic games as the way they are like cartoons from the past. Unlike cartoons nowadays which great modern ones come out once in a blue moon, there can be great modern games as well and that's more than what you think.

Old games can be good, however I do prefer modern games, in the sense they don't break as easily as old games. A modern game usually gets 10000 updates per month, while old games get none, due to the lack of technologies. And you can just auto-save or use a save feature found in the menu. In old games, for example GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, and IV, EFLC, there was no quicksave feature. You had to go to a safehouse just to save. In much older games, they had little to no save features. Save files easily corrupted.

| @work By "Retro games" I didn't really have games like GTA III in mind, I rather meant the games from the 90's. But, about the updates and such, you're right. |

But old games can corrupt due to a simple cartridge tilt. One cartridge tilt would cause graphics to glitch out.

| Yeah, right. Cartridges can sometimes glitch out. For some reason blowing cartridges always fixes them, dunno how it works. |

Did you have more fun with games with so low graphics and audio capabilities, developers try to make the best thing they could out of their limited resources?
да нет
The less retro a game is, the better the game is.
Note: My Opinion I guess this is a bit of context, but games were never supposed to be played like a novel, but as a competition. This was the original purpose of games, and I'd like to call these original games "retro" games.
Retro-games will never be on a "grand" scale, like Xenoblade Chronicles or Max Payne, because it is technically impossible. They will only be as playable as arcade games, and not as something as equivalent as a form of literature. Super Mario Bros and Donkey Kong were these games.
True "modern" retro games don't really exist.
There is partial retro-games, or games that have better graphics, but still no purpose except to serve as a competition. Games like Super Hexagon and Wii Sports.
There are games that have a little bit of a grey area, like Street Fighter, Super Smash Bros, and the Binding of Isaac. They were intended as "retro" games, but they go far beyond the criteria of being a retro game. (These games are a retro game by heart, but they aren't.) These are a lot of games today, great games like Crypt of the Necrodancer and Don't Starve.
Then, there are the grand non-retro games, notably every single Mario game after Super Mario 64. These games are good. |

| Both? It really depends on my mood. I'm more for story and good characters than graphics. |

I could see RPGs as not being "retro" games.
Something like Metal Gear wouldn't be a "retro" game, either. |

| Retro games, I have an affinity for old things so it's natural for me choose that. The 90s was a great decade for video game so much change happened from A Link to the Past to Half-Life, most of them work fine on my potato, and I like playing a piece of history; something considered the best or just popular and/or influential, sometimes just wierd. |

Modern games atleast tries to show what video games are capable of being today, which is why i prefer them. There also still manages to be quite a lot of good modern games coming out, despite all the bad releases we've been getting recently.

retro, although there are a select few modern games i like
i liked how developers always made the most within their limitations now developers try to have the most graphically intense and graphically realistic game possible in order to make the new "best game of all time," which is why power is all of a sudden such a big thing corrupt community, corrupt developers

I play both. I still play my N64 and Gamecube to play Mario Party and stuff like that.
I don't think games with retro styles today are retro. I call them Pseudo-Retro as it has modern elements. |

It really depends. If it's a game where it's retro to be retro, then it's meh. If it's like Shovel Knight where it uses the retro to its advantage then yay.
